‘Power Trip’ Festival Set To Return In 2023 With Massive Metal Headliners

Southern California’s newly established premiere rock festival ‘Power Trip,’ is set to make its return this coming fall season. 2023 will mark the festival’s second go around as it was initially held in 2016 with headliners The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Roger Waters, and The WHO. While 2016’s headliners appealed to the 60’s & 70’s era or rock, this year’s lineup is said to include a 70’s-80’s heavy metal focused lineup with Metallica, Iron Maiden, and the prince of darkness Ozzy Osbourne being listed as rumored acts. Each of the three acts have seemingly posted the same teaser for this year’s Power Trip festival on their social media pages which all but confirms their rumored appearances.

The three day festival is slated to take place October 8th-10th and the full lineup is set to be revealed Thursday, March 30th. Tickets will go on sale next week with more details expected to arise following the festival lineup announcement.

As far as the ‘rumored’ 2023 headliners go, Power Trip might be offering the most stacked metal festival for classic metal fans. While it often feels like a redundant chore to criticize most modern rock festivals for using the same regurgitated headliners, it’s actually somewhat refreshing to see a festival like ‘Power Trip’ openly market itself as a renaissance of old school rock and metal.

There certainly has a been a lack of risk taking with newer and more prominent young rock acts being given the headliner spotlight at these huge festivals, but to have a festival solely dedicated to classic acts is not a bad thing. In fact, it may inadvertently provide more opportunities for younger acts to receive the spotlight at other more modern rock festivals, provided there’s a festivals like Power Trip which focuses on nostalgic rock acts.

If anything it also gives older artists like Ozzy Osbourne a welcoming environment to perform one-off shows. Given Osbourne’s recent health issues and his recent statements regarding retiring from touring, Power Trip seems like the ideal festival for the prince of darkness to make a proper return to the big stage.
