Crypto Investor Shot Multiple Times in an Alleged $450k Wristwatch Robbery

On the early morning of the 18th of March, a French crypto investor was allegedly attacked by a robber who wanted to steal his $450,000 worth of Richard Mille wristwatch. The 33-year-old victim, Pierrick Jamaux, claimed to have been shot five times at close range by the robber.

Not a Coincidence

Jamaux is convinced that the incident, which happened in New York, United States, was not a coincidence and must have been planned.

“Given the fact that he (the robber) was waiting there when we arrived and also the violence of the crime, I believe he followed me…for a few hours or days to figure out what I do, where I go. I think it was organized. It cannot be a coincidence…the guy was waiting for me, there is no doubt about it.”

Jamaux said he was getting out of an Uber car right in front of the hotel he lodged in when the robber started shooting him. The victim claimed that the robber shot him five times at close range, three of which went through both of his legs.

According to Jamaux, the robber was unable to get the watch off because of a “bracelet security mechanism” it had. He added that he was rescued by a female friend and his wife who jumped on the attacker and choked him.

Jamaux reportedly passed out after being shot and started to bleed out on the street. The crypto investor is said to have had six surgeries so far as a result of the gunshot wounds and is still recovering in hospital.

Alleged Robber Arrested, Faces Attempted Murder Charges

The alleged robber, who was said to have escaped in a black four-door BMW car with an unknown female accomplice on the day of the incident, has been arrested. A surveillance video captured him changing his clothes before and after the incident, in an attempt to elude authorities.

Reports claim the 35-year-old attacker is now facing attempted murder charges and will face a minimum of 20 years jail term if convicted.

Meanwhile, Zaryn Dentzel, the co-founder of a Spanish tech company, Tuenti, recounted last year how he was severely assaulted by four to five robbers who tried to steal his bitcoins worth millions of euros.
