Brazilian TSE may Use Blockchain for Voting in Future

brazil

  • The Superior Electoral Court of Brazil, TSE, open-up about its Blockchain adoption.
  • Brazil named the blockchain based research program as “Election of the Future.”

Brazil is all set to take the advantage of blockchain technology. Brazilian voting authority is planning to use blockchain for voting purposes. In like manner the country would organise ballots for voting. As the blockchain technology is limitless and crypto is only a part of it. As well as more countries should adopt these types of technology use-cases.

Advanced Voting Approach of Brazilian TSE

The country is on its way to find various advancement for voting. In this case the chances of manual error become very less. Brazil is researching end-to-end voting protocol, shared keys, post-quantum cryptography and more. The endeavour of the country is to build efficient and cheap voting infrastructure. So the country would use an advanced voting approach with blockchain technology.

But, there is no timeline revealed for blockchain implementation yet. Celio Castro Wermerlinger said that Brazil’s present voting system is safe to use. Celio is the coordinator of modernization at the Brazilian voting authority.

Blockchain voting may seem easy but won’t become an easy and efficient solution. In 2018 a blockchain based voting company Voatz, conducted voting using blockchain technology. The company enabled voting procedures for the citizens of West Virginia.

The voting procedure completed with the help of smartphones with implementing blockchain technology. But this step of Voatz got criticism for having higher security risks. And in 2020, the state authority suspended Voatz use for security concerns.

The US also conducted many pilot tests with blockchain but not adopted any. It may be possible in future to have elections using blockchain technology. But it may take some time to have a blockchain based voting company which would ease the voting solution.
