What does the Cardano roadmap look like?
In recent years, the Cardano Foundation, which stands behind the blockchain, has adhered to a long-term roadmap in terms of development. This should lead to a natural evolution of the network. The Cardano roadmap has 5 different development phases :
- Byron: Basics of the Cardano blockchain
- Shelley: Decentralization of the network
- Goguen: Introducing Smart Contracts
- Basho: Increase in scalability
- Voltaire: Governance Functions
So far we are in the Basho development phase and Cardano wants to massively increase the scalability of the blockchain.
What is Cardano Voltaire?
The Vice President of Governance at Input Output Global recently named the 3 most important pillars at Voltaire:
- Member Based Organization (MBO)
- The “Cardano Constitution”
- Democratic consensus building
These instruments are intended to help Cardano become a self-sustaining system after Voltaire.
Can Cardano replace Ethereum?
The representations of Voltaire’s 3 pillars show that “the conclusion” of the Cardano roadmap could not be far off. This would have made Charles Hoskinson’s vision a reality. Then the competition between Ethereum and Cardano could enter a new round. Because Cardano was considered an “Ethereum killer” in the past.
For this, however, it is crucial that Cardano can catch up, especially in the number of dApps based on the Cardano blockchain. Basho’s increase in scalability could be one of the most important steps in this direction.
