Watchmaker TIMEX Launches Collection of 500 BAYC Watches

  • Customers will have options for the watch’s casing, strap, and a few other carvings.
  • Timepiece Forge Pass NFTs are now available for purchase, with the price set at 2 ETH.

Soon, the proud owners of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs will be able to flaunt their PFPs on their wrists, forever preserved in a one-of-a-kind Timex timepiece.

Timex has teamed up with the Bored Ape Yacht Club to offer 500 watches that prominently feature the owner’s Ape or Mutant on the dial. Customers will have options for the watch’s casing, strap, and a few other carvings when they make their purchase.

Timepiece Forge Pass NFTs are now available for purchase, with the price set at 2 ETH (about $2,500). Midway through the month of December, Forge Pass holders will have access to TIMEX’s online watch customization tool.

Timex Entering Web3

The same digital version of each watch will be provided as an NFT that is distinct from the Forge Pass NFT. However, customers shouldn’t anticipate delivery until the second quarter of 2023, far after the Christmas season has passed.

Shari Fabiani, senior vice president of worldwide marketing and creative services for the Timex Group, stated:

“Timex is entering Web3 by keeping creativity and community at the forefront. We are redefining and pushing the boundaries of physical, virtual, and now phygital products.”

Timex has recently proclaimed itself “timekeepers of the metaverse” by releasing a branding challenge in the popular video game Fortnite. Ape veterans Josh Ong and CryptoVonDoom guided the collaborative design of the BAYC watch.

Bored Ape Yacht Club’s pseudonymous principal artist, All Seeing Seneca, also created some noise during Art Basel. In addition to Seneca’s first actual work of art, the auction house Phillips sold three of her animated works created as NFTs.
