Reports Suggest OneCoin Founder Ruja Ignatova ‘Killed on Yacht’

Rumors are floating around that OneCoin crypto scam founder Ruja Ignatova was killed on a yacht in Greece five years ago. However, the reports seem speculative, with no conclusive evidence offered.

The Bureau for Investigative Reporting and Data (BIRD) has reportedly seen documents that contain an agent report that Ignatova was killed. It even goes so far as to say that she was dismembered, with her body tossed into the sea.

Some media outlets claim that while there is possible evidence that a murder might have taken place, there is no conclusive proof. They state that it is unlikely that the FBI would put dead individuals on the most wanted list. At the moment, it does appear that the rumors are only speculation.

Ignatova’s actions led to the FBI and Europol putting her on their most wanted lists, but she has been off the radar for five years. However, a U.K. property linked to Ignatova suggested links to the founder. The scam initially started in 2014 in Bulgaria, defrauding investors of about $4 billion.

Other OneCoin Executives Have Been Arrested

Meanwhile, authorities have begun taking action against others associated with the project. OneCoin executives were arrested and charged by the U.S. authorities as far back as 2019 while the search for the OneCoin founder continued.

A former boyfriend of Ignatova was also sentenced to five years in prison. He was charged with laundering $300 million from the proceeds. More recently, co-founder Karl Sebastian Greenwood pled guilty to wire fraud and money laundering.

Rumors Are Swirling

The OneCoin case is one of the most notable scams in the industry, and Ignatova is one of the most notorious individuals. Unfortunately, there is little information regarding her whereabouts, but there is no shortage of rumors. Ignatova reportedly learned of a potential arrest before she fled.

Her story has made headlines outside the crypto industry as well. It even resulted in the release of a documentary on Ignatova and the crypto scam titled “Crypto Queen.” The documentary covers the events leading up to the scam and what followed.
