OpenAI GPT-4 might have gotten updates per Altman’s latest post

A new post from Sam Altman suggests that there might have been an upgrade on the OpenAI’s GPT-4 algorithm.

The OpenAI GPT-4 Upgrade

Sam Altman, the CEO of Artificial Intelligence (AI) firm OpenAI stated that ChatGPT-4 had a “slow start on its new year resolution but should now be much less lazy now.” This statement hints at a possible upgrade for the Large Language Model (LLM), especially after a series of complaints recently surfaced.

Two weeks ago, some reports were made about the unregulated attitude of OpenAI’s ChatGPT including how the AI tool has now become too lazy to respond to prompts. According to some users, OpenAI’s GPT-4 fails to do the task it is prompted to carry out at certain times. In other cases, the OpenAI ChatGPT bot halts halfway and does not continue until it is urged to carry on.

More interesting is the fact that sometimes, it even instructs users to carry out their research themselves. Although OpenAI immediately acknowledged receiving the feedback about the dysfunctional operation of the chatbot, Altman’s new post on X suggests that the developers behind the tool may have enhanced its features to avoid producing ‘unsavoury’ responses as before.

The OpenAI GPT-4 developer team explained that the chatbot had not been updated since November 11. No official announcement has been made but it is likely that an update has been carried out, per Altman’s X post.

OpenAI Seeing More Competition Spring Up

Upgrading its GPT-4 and avoiding complaints from customers is a necessary move for OpenAI to make at this time when strong competitions are building against the company.

iPhone maker Apple is currently working on its AI advancement, a move that will probably challenge OpenAI’s market dominance. The tech company has conducted some major hirings, and implemented some hardware updates in view of this upgrade.

One of the recent milestones that OpenAI has recorded recently is the launch of the ChatGPT store. The GPT Store which made its debut a few days into the new year aims to provide a platform for developers to showcase their customized GPTs for adoption.

In addition, the store provides users with useful and popular customized versions of ChatGPT.
