KuCoin has agreed to pay a total of $22 million to settle charges of violating securities laws in New York. The exchange will refund $16.77 million to its New York customers and pay an additional $5.3 million to the Attorney General of New York. The settlement resolves allegations that KuCoin offered tokens, including ether, that meet the definition of a security without registering with the attorney general’s office. This is the latest in a series of crackdowns by U.S. Regulators on unregistered crypto offerings.
