Adidas and Prada Collaborate to Auction NFT on SuperRare

Adidas and Prada are roping in Zach Lieberman, the world-renowned American digital artist, for the Adidas for Prada re-source collection in their third collaboration.

The Community-Driven Prada Re-source Collection

In an announcement on January 21, the Adidas for Prada re-source collection will be powered by NFTs on Polygon and feature user-generated and creator-owned art.

The objective is to bring together users across various fields, including fashion, design, and crypto. Out of this, they hope to build a large-scale digital artwork—operating as an open-source metaverse project– that’s inspired by the physical Prada Re-Nylon collection.

The ongoing collaboration builds on the Adidas for Prada Re-Nylon collection, which aims to celebrate timeless designs. At the same time, the two giants are championing future consciousness through the collection by blending Prada’s top-tier craftsmanship with Adidas’ timeless lineage of sportswear innovation.

Collaboration for Sustainable Development

Integrating NFTs will help realize Prada and Adidas’ commitment to sustainable development. Also, it will fittingly celebrate Adidas Originals Forum and Prada’s Re-Nylon fabric which was first announced in 2019.

Prada was environmentally conscious when creating this unique textile. It was made by recycling plastic waste from oceans and fiber waste. This fabric can be recycled continuously without quality losses.

The Campaign Starts on January 24, Mosaic to be auctioned on SuperRare

Under the Prada re-source campaign, interested artists will be asked to send anonymized photos to the open-source NFT projects from January 24. However, the project has indicated that only 3k images will be minted as NFTs before being compiled as one giant patched NFT artwork by Zach Lieberman.

Out of the 3k slots, 1k will be allocated to the holders of Adidas’ Into the Metaverse NFT. Adidas has also indicated that 500 more slots will be assigned to users who tried to mint their Into the Metaverse NFT during the public sale but failed.

The finalized tiled artwork, a mosaic, will later be auctioned on SuperRare—an NFT marketplace—from January 28 to 30. A significant portion will go towards a non-profit organization, Slow Factory, which promotes inclusion amongst communities. Still, all 3k contributors will own full intellectual property rights to their NFTs and can sell them individually in the secondary market.

NFTs Preserves and Protect the Right to Property

As per a DappRadar’s report, NFTs are dominant, even outperforming a depressed cryptocurrency market. A parallel market research by Huobi also affirmed that NFTs went viral in 2021 with exploding trading volumes and activity. More users, the report adds, are adopting NFTs due to the technology’s superior property rights.
