Seaport Surfaces From OpenSea For NFT Bartering

OpenSea Unveils Seaport

OpenSea, the biggest NFT marketplace has made an announcement regarding the launch of their Web3 marketplace protocol for selling and acquiring NFTs efficiently and securely.

In a blog post shared by OpenSea, it said that Seaport, the marketplace protocol, will provide a unique barter system like mechanism, allowing users to exchange NFTs by providing assets other than tokens such as Ethereum.

As per the platform, folks can agree to supply ERC1155, ERC721, ERC20, ETH items in exchange for a non fungible token, implementing bartering as an integration of tokens as a payment mechanism.

Additionally, users of Seaport will specify which criteria — for instance, specific traits on NFT artwork or chunks of a collection — they want to offer. Seaport will also support tipping, until the amount is under the original value of the artwork.

OpenSea Won’t Be Sailing The Ship Here

As per OpenSea, it will not have a command on SeaPort protocol — and they will serve as one amongst several, developing over this shared protocol. It further added that, As the adoption rises and devs are offering more use cases, the organization is accountable to keep each other safe.

A few social media users wnet skeptical regarding this latest protocol. A Twitter user called or others to check out how Seaport compared to 0x v4 NFT swaps, while another one said that how both, trading NFTs and ETH for a token would be announced on tax forms.

Launch of Seaport followed announcement by OpenSea when it acquired Gem back in April, an NFT marketplace aggregator, focusing on betterment of user experience.
