Hacktivist Group ‘Anonymous’ Releases New Video on BAYC NFT
  • The new Anonymous video has been widely panned by BAYC supporters.
  • Artist Ryder Ripps was the first to accuse Yuga Labs of using Nazi symbolism.

Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collectors have received a message from Anonymous, a global hacktivist organization. The group has pledged to look into claims that the BAYC non-fungible tokens (NFTs) include Nazism, racist, and even pedophilic representation.

One of the most sought-after and priciest NFT collections is the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) bundle. Proud owners of BAYC Apes include Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Justin Bieber, among many others on the A-list. Moreover, music videos starring the BAYC Apes have been released by artists like Snoop Dogg and Eminem. However, the well-known collection has not been without criticism.

The hackers claimed:

“We are aware of both official and unofficial responses from founders and representatives, but have come across nothing that has been labeled as unrefuted.”

Objection to Forcing Ideologies

But they did specify at the outset that it was a “friendly message.” Nonetheless, they wish to initiate a conversation on the BAYC NFT collection. The probe, they warn further, might last many months. And they make it clear that they don’t mind whether someone holds racist, nihilistic, or Nazi ideas. They object, however, if companies try to force their ideology on unknowing consumers via their products.

The new Anonymous video has been widely panned by BAYC supporters. The footage, on the other hand, seems to be authentic. On top of that, it was disseminated via the hacking collective’s official channels. Artist Ryder Ripps was the first to accuse Yuga Labs of using Nazi symbolism in their collection. According to Ripps, the BAYC emblem is a parody of the Nazi SS emblem.
