Amino to Launch Klay Thompson NFT Collection in Conjunction with Binance NFT

The Amino Thompson NFT initiative is part of a broader plan to launch 30 NFT collections celebrating iconic athletes.

Health and fitness Web3 ecosystem Amino is launching a non-fungible token (NFT) collection commemorating the incredible career of NBA superstar Klay Thompson. According to reports, the Amino NFT initiative celebrates Thompson and his fourth championship with the NBA team Golden State Warriors. In addition, this collection showcases artwork from the shooting guard’s championship-winning years with the Warriors. The years in view are 2015, 2017, and 2018 championship-winning years with the Warriors.

Details on the Amino NFT Collection

Amino’s NFT collection will launch exclusively on Binance NFT. It will be the first drop in a series of over 30 NFT launches called GRAILS. These GRAILS will become touchstones that celebrate the remarkable careers and accomplishments of top athletes.

Speaking on the initiative with Binance NFT, Andrew Shore, CEO of the Web3 health and fitness platform, said:

“Binance NFT marketplace is the perfect place for us to inaugurate our GRAILS collection, starting with Klay Thompson’s NFT collection. As a beloved NBA superstar, we are thrilled to be kicking off our partnership with Klay’s NFT collection and give fans the opportunity to be part of his most iconic career moments.”

Binance NFT also expressed excitement at the collaboration with Amino in a Twitter response to the announcement which simply read “Excited for this.”

Amino’s NFT Mystery Boxes will be available for sale exclusively on the Binance NFT marketplace from October 18th, 2022. The drop will comprise 10,000 Mystery Boxes available at $50 apiece. In addition, rare NFTs in the set will also feature exclusive memorabilia associated with Thompson and his decorated career. These include autographed jerseys, basketballs, as well as numerous photographs.

The GRAILS non-fungible token collection is a series of over 30 NFT drops featuring iconic athletes from various sporting endeavors. Each drop will celebrate the historic and laudable achievements of these top athletes and also include rare NFTs. Users will be able to unlock special memorabilia and experiences using these rare NFTs.

NFTs & the Sporting World

Amino’s initiative is another example of the growing trend of collaborations between the sporting world and the crypto space. This also sees blockchain technology continue to make inroads into a variety of industries, including sports and entertainment, fashion, and mainstream finance. Several proponents of these various sectors are also jumping on board and leveraging the exploding popularity of decentralized digital assets.

Examples of previous NFT and professional sports joint ventures include Dapper Labs facilitating NBA’s Top Shot NFT initiative. Furthermore, the company behind Flow blockchain has also struck deals with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to roll out an NFT marketplace for the combat sports company.

Other sporting endeavors to tap into blockchain-centric causes are Formula 1, professional golf, professional hockey, American football, and Association football. For instance, English Premier League giant Liverpool FC deepened its ties with French blockchain-based sports startup Sorare late last week. Meanwhile, popular Italian Serie A club AC Milan also became the first association football club to partner with MonkeyLeague on NFT gaming.
