AEW Dynamite Winners and Highlights | November 9, 2022

The Acclaimed and FTR def. Swerve in our Glory and The Gunn Club

Both Ass boys walked out dressed like an early ‘90’s Shawn Michaels.

Keith Lee ignored a fist bump from Swerve Strickland, and this did not go ignored on commentary.

Austin Gunn did a pretty hilarious impression of Road Dogg’s signature Shake, Rattle ‘N Roll punches.

FTR hit multiple Big Rig’s in this match, including the finish over The Gunn Club.

AEW aired an interview from MJF with Pardon my Take, and it was as close to a babyface promo as you’ll see from MJF, save from his comments later on in the night.

Ethan Page def. Eddie Kingston

There was a lot of energy for this match and it all went to Eddie Kingston.

AEW did a good job telling the origin story of Eddie Kingston and Ethan Page, but first they’ll have to make people care about Page.

Wardlow def. Ariya Daivari

This was yet another squash match victory for Wardlow, but a legitimate feud against Wardlow, in Powerhouse Hobbs, can’t come fast enough.

Wardlow feels like he’s been in the same place since winning the TNT Championship. In fact, I think there’s an outside chance Powerhouse Hobbs defeats him.

Wardlow threatened to take every title in this company, and given how many titles there are in AEW, Wardlow is going to need to start a whole other wrestling promotion to have enough room to store them.

Samoa Joe shockingly turned on Wardlow, and I’m fine with it. This WarJoe tag team was repetitive and directionless. Just to hammer the point home that they weren’t in cahoots, Powerhouse Hobbs talked trash to Samoa Joe from the ramp.

Saraya Challenges Britt Baker for Full Gear

An emotional Saraya announced she was “100% cleared,” and Britt Baker went on to tear into her in a great promo. “You left your house, and walked into mine…we don’t take walk-ins, so b—h make an appointment!”

Britt Baker received a lot of heat from these fans by claiming she built AEW.

These fans were on Saraya’s side but went radio silent as soon as her promo veered into pro-woman territory. It’s okay, Saraya got them back when she used the line “ungrateful b—h.”

Jay Lethal def. Trent Baretta

The highlight of this match was Jeff Jarrett coming out after and referring to Braun Strowman as a “Make-Believe Monster in red Skinny Jeans.” All Braun Strowman did was tweeted about “Flippy Floppers,” and now he’s got Jeff Jarrett cutting promos on him on national television. Strowman is quickly becoming one of my new favorite wrestlers.

Jon Moxley Calls out MJF

Jon Moxley standing in the ring with William Regal—whom I assume will be part of this match at Full Gear—and I expect Regal to be the reason Moxley loses.

Jon Moxley cut a very good promo about how he’s seen the devil and MJF ain’t him. Still, it was underwhelming and MJF easily had the better promo.

Jamie Hayter def. Skye Blue

Britt Baker, and her Jeff Hardy JNCO jeans, walked out with Jamie Hayter selling her injury.

This match was not good, and it was hardly Jamie Hayter’s fault.

Backstage, Lance Archer laid out Ricky Starks and hopefully this wasn’t an injury angle to write Starks off television.

Bryan Danielson def. Sammy Guevara

By the beginning of the third fall, Bryan Danielson’s face was a crimson mask.

Part of the Bryan Danielson formula while working with young talent seems to be to wrestle two-out-of-three falls matches, so that even if Danielson Goes over they still get a win.

Poor Sammy Guevara botched a spot when he slipped leaping to the top rope. Fans were all over him for that.

To the surprise of nobody, this was a truly awesome match and the crowd was going crazy for it by match end.
