AEW Dynamite Results | April 6, 2022

Adam Cole def. Christian Cage

A sold-out crowd was very hot for this opening match between Christian and Adam Cole.

It’s hard to believe this is only Christian’s third match of 2022, and his first on Dynamite.

Adam Cole side-stepped Christian’s dive to the outside, yet still sold it like Christian landed on him.

Christian Cage vs. Adam Cole received a well-deserved standing ovation ahead of the finish.

Hangman Adam Page vs. Christian Cage is official in a Texas Death Match on AEW Rampage.

Later on in the night, Christian Cage stormed out of an interview with The Jurassic Express before it started

Samoa Joe def. Max Caster—Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Qualifier

Max Caster’s freestlye included a diss that when AEW was beating them (NXT) in the ratings, Samoa Joe was their champ.

Samoa Joe won this match with a Muscle Buster, which received a huge pop.

Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt are going to be so much fun.

Shawn Dean def. Shawn Spears

This song was dominated by chats of “Wardlow,” who received a massive pop when he walked out.

Shawn Dean is always half-unconscious when he wins is matches.

AEW finally revealed what Shawn Dean is the captain of, three years into his AEW career. He has a military background.

Today, learned that Chuck Taylor bought Wheeler Yuta his tights.

Eddie Kingston Calls Out Jericho Appreciation Society

Sammy Guevara’s cue cards christened “American Top Team” as “American Talk Team”

Coming out of commercial break, Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz ambushed The Jericho Appreciation Society.

Some fans had the audacity to “what” Eddie Kingston, even after he threatened them

Eddie Kingston announced “on sight” SZN as he threatened to show up at Daniel Garcia’s house.

Jade Cargill Appears Live

Jade Cargill has been one of AEW’s biggest stars for a while now, and I believe this is the first time since her debut she gets to cut a live promo.

Jade Cargill and Mark Sterling’s promo on Marina Shafir was awesome on Dynamite.

The Hardys def. The Butcher and The Blade—Tables Match

The Blade fell asleep at the wheel as Jeff Hardy waited on the top rope for an eternity before Blade knocked him off.

Hardy went through a table diagonally, yet the match continued because both members had to be eliminated.

There was a wacky rule that a legal table break had to come via offensive maneuver, so when Matt Hardy crashed through the table due to missing a leg drop, this did not count.

What’s the use of having an elimination match when the eliminated tag team partners can just reenter

This match was described by Jim Ross as “bowling-shoe ugly.”

Hikaru Shida def. Julia Hart—Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Qualifier

Julia Hart is still rocking an eye patch and even wrestled like a heel throughout this match. She even kicked out the Varsity Blondes.

This was Julia Hart’s best match in her young career. I expect Julia Hart to fill the “Rhea Ripley role” in the House of Black.

Swerve Strickland was attacked by Team Taz, only to be saved by Keith Lee in a backstage segment. In the fracas, Lee blasted Will Hobbs through a wall.

FTR vs. The Young Bucks—AAA and ROH Tag Team Championship

By the time the bell rang, this match was going to get about 20 minutes, so chances are it was not going to be as great as it could be.

Longtime ROH announcer Bobby Cruise did the ring introductions.

The Agganis Arena was about 90% pro-FTR.

The first half of this match was in FTR’s hard-hitting wheelhouse, even when The Young Bucks were on offense.

There was a loud pop for a dual Sharpshooter by FTR as they await the seemingly imminent arrival of Bret Hart. Matt Jackson answered with a Bret Hart-inspired flying.

This was a very good main event, but I didn’t like it nearly as much as their match 18 months ago in front of 1,000 people. I think Young Bucks vs. FTR is better when the Young Buck are babyfaces.
