Carmelo Hayes def. Roderick Strong—NXT North American and Cruiserweight Championship

It was unclear as to who the babyface in this match was, so this NXT crowd defaulted to split chants.

There have been two double champions in NXT history, and both were Black men. I love to see it.

AJ Styles Faces off with Grayson Waller

When AJ Styles was saying all the things he loves about NXT, he really should have been using the past tense.

AJ Styles showed up in full gear, and if this show came and went without him wrestling it would be such a cruel tease.

Riddle and MSK def. IMPERIUM

DJ Tommy Carlucci did a great job mixing Riddle’s music with MSK’s. Pro wrestling needs more DJ’s.

Nash Carter was bumping like crazy throughout this match and pretty much stole the show doing so.

I can’t help but picture Jeff Hardy in this same spot and wonder how that would change this match, because it was awesome all things considered.

Riddle won this match with an RKO. I was kind of hoping he would win this match with a Swanton Bomb.

MSK had a confrontation with The Creed Brothers after this match, and I’m pretty sure their new name is “The Brothers Creed.”

Mandy Rose def. Raquel Gonzalez and Cora Jade—NXT Women’s Championship

Mandy Rose arrived in a helicopter. Raquel Gonzalez arrived on a motorcycle. Poor Cora Jade arrived on a skateboard that she had to carry most of the way. It’s like their method of transportation was based on their experience in the business.

Raquel Gonzalez hit a double fireman’s carry slam that sounds so much better on paper than it actually looked.

Raquel Gonzalez slipped, but fortunately her and Cora Jade kept going like nothing happened.

Gonzalez gorilla-press slammed Cora Jade to the outside, but Mandy Rose moved, causing Gonzalez to look remorseful as if she didn’t mean to do damage to Cora Jade despite throwing her outside of the ring to begin with.

Mandy Rose retained over Cora Jade with a very sloppy rollup finish.

Von Wagner Attacks Andre Chase

Andre Chase’s student section is one of the best gimmicks going in NXT.

I love the fact that Andre Chase gave a full scholarship to one of his students.

Von Wagner said people talk trash about him when he’s not around, but once he steps in the ring he’s everyone’s favorite wrestler. I want to meet these people he’s talking about because I’ve literally never met a Von Wagner fan.

Wade Barrett compared Von Wagner to Antonio Brown, but Browns’ meltdown was way more charismatic.

Bron Breakker def. Tommaso Ciampa—NXT Championship

Bron Breakker got a special entrance where he got to kick a Styrofoam “X” in half.

Breakker caught Tommaso Ciampa in midair and hit a power bomb, and it wasn’t perfect, but it was explosive enough to look impressive.

This match was enhanced by a bloody Tommaso Ciampa.

Breakker kicked out of the Willow’s Bell and the Fairytale Ending en route to winning the NXT Championship. He wasn’t kidding about being willing to “die trying” to win this title.

In yet another tribute to his dad, Breakker landed a perfectly placed flying bulldog, and even won the match using the Steiner Recliner.
