AEW Dynamite Winners And Grades

Orange Cassidy def. Big Bill

AEW is really putting over Orange Cassidy’s win streak as the hottest wrestler on the roster. They’re clearly doing something with him, and surprisingly, the AEW All Atlantic Championship is one of the strongest titles in AEW.

Orange Cassidy worked another highly entertaining opening match as his win streak continues.

Jon Moxley had an incredible, violent backstage promo that has to be seen to be believed.

Orange Cassidy vs. Big Bill Grade: B+

Will Hobbs wins the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match

The Elite was mauled by House of Black. They posed with The Elite’s titles and temporarily stole them.

In his coming-out party, Komander was Him throughout this match, including a beautify dive onto the field.

Action Andretti shined in this match before crashing and burning trying to do a Falcon Arrow.

Will Hobbs was the hometown favorite, but Takeshita was the sentimental favorite. Still, the Cow Palace popped huge for Hobbs’ win.

Face of the Revolution Ladder Match Grade: A

Chris Jericho def. Peter Avalon

I caught the tail end of Peter Avalon’s theme music, and it sounded very catchy.

After famously losing to Action Andretti, nobody took anything for granted in this one. That’s the genius of Chris Jericho, is now fans will be into every one of his matches because there’s always an outside chance his opponent can spring an upset.

Peter Avalon got a long flurry of offense for the vast majority of this match until Jericho won it with a Codebreaker. Still, fans never really seemed all that convinced he was going to win.

Hangman Adam Page had a formidable answer to Moxley’s promo from earlier, but it wasn’t nearly as intense and fans could be heard cheering for Ricky Starks in the background.

Chris Jericho vs. Peter Avalon Grade: B-

Christian Cage Calls out Jungle Boy

I like what Christian Cage had to say, but his promo was far too long, and fans became restless at points.

After battling “shut the [expletive] up!” chants, Christian Cage was eventually able to rile this crowd up into a frenzy.

Jungle Boy Jack Perry went full Undertaker as he appeared at a graveyard. There was a tombstone that said “Christian Cage.” Is Jungle Boy challenging Christian to a Buried Alive match?

Christian-Jungle Boy Segment Grade: B-

Hook def. Matt Hardy

Hook has shaved what appears to be a stick figure into his stomach. It’s the perfect mix of corky and terrifying, which defines Hook.

This was surprisingly competitive, with Matt Hardy getting multiple hope spots.

The finish was awesome as Hook slapped on the Redrum out of nowhere, forcing Hardy to tap immediately.

Hook vs. Matt Hardy Grade: C+

Riho def. Toni Storm

As is always the case, fans got behind Riho in short order.

Riho surprisingly sprung the upset in a very good match, which was immediately followed by a wild brawl that even Excalibur had trouble keeping up with.

Toni Storm vs. Riho Grade: B+

Casino Tag Team Battle Royale

The Blackpool Combat Club continue to lean into their heel characters as this match started with the BCC jumping the Dark Order.

Watching ROH champion Claudio Castagnoli compete in a Tag Team Casino Battle Royale wasn’t a good look for that world championship.

Penta El Zero M wore 49ers colors and was treated as the de facto babyface of this match. They were furious when Penta was eliminated

Rey Fenix competed in this match, and I wonder how many people watching at home are wondering why he’s competing in both the Face of the Ladder Match and the Casino Battle Royale. It’s because the guy in the Ladder Match was actually Komander.

Excalibur referred to The Butcher and The Blade as “the most dangerous team in the history of AEW,” which is way too much hype for the push they’re getting.

Orange Cassidy eliminated Wheeler Yuta, and I hope to God AEW isn’t planning to waste Orange Cassidy’s win streak on Yuta.

There was no Joker spot in this match as Orange Cassidy just keeps winning. if Cassidy loses without getting pinned, does the streak still count?

Casino Tag Team Battle Royale Grade: B

MJF and Bryan Danielson Face Off

This final segment was all Bryan Danielson, who said he didn’t want his daughters to date a man like MJF. The big go-home line was Danielson saying MJF is going to get his [expletive] head kicked in. The line was censored.

I wonder if AEW had to edit out MJF’s portion as they really rushed to get through this segment. Either way, there’s next to no chance MJF retains.

MJF and Bryan Danielson Segment Grade: B
