Will Smith, Kristen Bell, And Justin Bieber; Top Celebrities Whose RV-Style Wanderlust Is Inspiring A New Generation Of Travelers

Everyone wants to save up enough money to travel the world, or at least their countries, and see all the different things nature offers. However, A-list celebrities don’t have to dream about this; they just do it, and so do an increasing number of social media entrepreneurs and influencers who have made travel a part of their business.

The result? More people are getting inspired to travel more and live mobile lives, and why wouldn’t they? Social media influencer Casey Iola delves into it. “There is only one reason that more people are not hopping in an RV or an airplane and traveling more frequently, and that reason is their jobs. If there is one thing the pandemic changed, it was the overall sentiment toward work; more people realize that work isn’t everything.”

“More people desire flexible work schedules, and more people are starting online businesses and giving themselves the freedom to work while on the road. As soon as travel restrictions were lifted, it seemed every celebrity was on the road. Now, everyone wants to be able to do that as well, and that’s a great thing.”

Iola is an Instagram influencer and self-proclaimed digital nomad. The South African-born Australian resident has spent the last seven years traveling the world, visiting 46+ countries and living in 5. She currently utilizes her platform to advocate for travel and coach social media entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs-in-training on how to be financially independent of the rat race to achieve their travel dreams.

Like many of the celebrities covered in this article, Iola has also converted her Mercedes Sprinter into a home on wheels and has traveled the length and breadth of Australia while building her business.

Will Smith

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star is perhaps also the prince of mobile homes; his 2.5 million dollar motorhome is a marvel and has graced the set of many iconic movies, including Men In Black 3. While many celebrities rent their motorhomes, Smith bought his so that he could drive to different places with his family in-between movies.

The 30-tonne motorhome, nicknamed “The Heat,” sits on 1,200 square feet, has a $25,000 bathroom with steam showers, two 5-tonne AC units, and an upstairs lounging cinema-type area. It’s perhaps the only well-known two-story RV motorhome.

Will Smith’s schedule means that he is already required to travel a lot, but traveling for work and leisure is not quite the same thing, which is why Smith’s RV has been known to pop up in some iconic locations in-between movies.

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard

The couple started dating as far back as 2007, tied the knot in 2013, and have continued to grow stronger as a family over the years with their two daughters, Lincoln and Delta.

Unlike Will Smith, the couple has traveled in more typical RVs over the years, but after over a decade of waiting Dax recently talked about purchasing his own “proper bus,” a luxury RV that is planned to make their trips even more enjoyable.

Bell and Shepard are no strangers to travel, often popping up in different countries at different times with family members. However, the couple is also renowned for their RV lifestyle, which they have maintained for over a decade. The couple has been taking trips for years and have become RV pros, as Shepard’s Forbes interview shows. According to Bell, the couple has often gone on 40-man RV trips with a truckload of family members and friends.

“Traveling frequently with people you love has a way of greasing up relationships. Every relationship, friendship, and marriage needs to experience new things and new places together.” Said Iola.

Justin and Hailey Bieber

There’s also the Bieber family road trip that Justin and Hailey embarked on during the thick of the pandemic. As millions of fans followed their travels on Instagram, the couple stopped at some thrilling locations on their way to their final destination; Utah.

Justin and Hailey’s $1 million RV definitely qualifies as a luxury vehicle, with heated floors, an indoor sauna, and three flat screen TVs, making their trip a more thrilling experience. It wasn’t their first road trip in recent years either.

An Inspired Generation of Travellers

According to the New York Post, the RV industry is booming like never before. In 2021, it seemed that pandemic-weary Americans turned to the RV lifestyle in record numbers as restrictions began to be lifted. The report claims that in October 2021, more recreational vehicles were produced and delivered to dealerships than ever before, and this trend has not died down; in fact, it has become a habit.

The RV industry association claims that 72 million Americans plan to go RVing this year alone. Overall the U.S. is experiencing an uncommon number of RVs popping up across cities and counties.

Iola, who has spent the better part of this decade traveling and working all over the world has seen firsthand the impact that travel has on people; “The ability to unplug and reconnect with nature while being self-contained and having the flexibility to change plans easily is just so relaxing.”

“Our world is designed to tie us to a place and a job, but it’s great to see more people forcing their way out. Travel has always been one of the biggest secrets behind how celebrities stay refreshed and inspired and it’s great to see more people enjoying this privilege.”

Digital nomads are fast becoming the norm, and it is clear why that is happening. As work culture changes, remote work increasingly becomes commonplace, it’s expected that this trend will increase in the coming years.
