Which brand would you pick for your Digital Avatar in Meta – Prada, Balenciaga or Thom Browne?

Metaverse

Taking up another step towards making digital space more immersive, Meta has partnered with fashion brands Balenciaga, Prada and Thome Browne

When you hear about Metaverse or a virtual world, you expect and it’s also being marketed to you that almost everything you see in the real world, the digital world will have it. Now if it comes to essentials in general day to day lives, apparels or clothes are something that could not be ignored. On top of that, wearing a brand gives a sense of comfort, assurance and luxury in itself.

So having the intention to cater to this basic need in the digital world, one of the prominent companies wholeheartedly chasing the Metaverse dream, Meta has taken some steps towards this. CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerburg has recently announced that his company is going to launch a digital designer clothing marketplace dubbed as the ‘Meta Avatars Store’.

Zuckerberg announced the all new fashion marketplace alongwith vice president of fashion partnerships at Instagram, Eva Chen. The announcement made by Meta CEO and Eva Chen was on Meta owned social media platform Instagram, during an Instagram Live session.

The idea of fashion clothing in the virtual world may seem absurd or weird to many. As far as fashion marketplace Meta Avatars Store is concerned, it’s not known how many people would fall for this idea and choose to spend their actual money to dress up virtual avatars with designer clothes in the virtual world. However, Zuckerberg has hopes and he believes that the option of new fashion clothing would serve as a way by which users could express themselves better through their avatars.

‘Meta Avatars Store’ is launching on social media platforms Facebook, Messenger and Instagram from where users will be able to buy digital clothes. Initially the virtual store would offer branded digital outfits from Prada, Balenciaga and Thom Browne after Meta partnered with them. There was no mention of the pricing information yet but the option of free clothing for avatars in Meta will still be available for users.

Zuckerberg said that Meta has plans to create such an open marketplace in the form of ‘Meta Avatars Store’ where developers using their creativity can create and sell apparels. He said that the company is launching their avatars store where people can style their avatars after buying digital clothes for them.
