Vasil Hard Fork is for DApp Developers – Charles Hoskinson

Cardano network

Most anticipated upgrade on the Cardano network, the Vasil hard fork, is on its way to launch soon.

The Vasil hard fork on Cardano network was scheduled to set off by June. But the most anticipated upgrade got delayed due to several reasons. On 20th June, CEO of Input Output Global and founder of Cardano network – Charles Hoskinson, shared his thoughts on delays in Vasil upgrade.

Hoskinson said that Cardano is reaching close to their target of the Vasil Hard Fork Combinator (HFC) Event. He said that codes were completed, which means now the projects can adapt accordingly. But looking at the Terra (LUNA) network’s collapse, Hoskinson directed the developers behind Cardano to measure the network and remove the possible issues.

The IOG CEO said that this instruction made engineers put some additional tests on the network. He added that numerous tests ran on Plutus smart contracts and a lot of work was done on the network. Hoskinson said that this was the one dimension of a complicated puzzle that generally takes place before hard forks.

Further Cardano founder also told about the other dimension of this puzzle, which is the massive number of contacts on Consensus. Many people wanted to go more comprehensive about the testing process. While a lot of them asked for several more weeks time to enable testnet to carry on with these things.

Charles Hoskinson noted that the Vasil hard fork is not for general users of the Cardano network. Rather, it has been a hard fork from always focusing on dApp developers. Given these changes in Vasil upgrade and stretching its testnet phase resulted in delay of Vasil Hard Fork.

On the same day, Head of Delivery and Projects at IOG – Nigel Hemsley also noted about the hard fork in a blog post. Hemsley stated that the engineering team at IOG working behind Cardano network upgrade is quite close to finishing their core work. He added that by the time, there were only seven bugs remaining to be fixed.

However, these bugs were not severe yet the team came to the conclusion to delay the hard fork proposal. This would have allowed testnet more time for testing. Due to these steps, the Vasil hard fork mainnet scheduled for 29th June got delayed till July last week.
