Updated Day 3 Odds For Top Remaining Prospects, Mr. Irrelevant And More For Rounds 4-7

The first two days of the 2022 NFL draft are in the books, but there are still four rounds of exciting action left to play out on Day 3.

The draft has been quite intriguing thus far, with a non-stop frenzy of trading activity shaking up the draft order and adding even more unpredictability to an event already impossible to accurately project.

That won’t stop many from attempting to nail down where certain prospects land. Sportsbooks are even offering updated odds on some of the most notable yet to hear their names called.

Here’s a look at the latest 2022 NFL draft odds courtesy of FanDuel for player draft positions:

2022 NFL Draft Odds: Player Draft Positions

Sam Howell Draft Position: O/U 112.5

Carson Strong Draft Position: O/U 120.5

Jesse Luketa Draft Position: O/U 139.5

Matt Araiza Draft Position: O/U 142.5

Although Day 3 lacks the luster of Thursday’s marquee first round and won’t see as many key prospects get selected as Friday’s second and third rounds, there are still plenty of exciting players who are sure to make an impact for the team that selects them.

There is a storied history of late-round picks overcoming their draft position and surging to unexpected superstardom. Tom Brady is the best example of this, putting together the most impressive career of any NFL quarterback in history despite starting his journey as an unheralded sixth-round selection.

One draft positional that hasn’t seen any stars emerge is the final one. The aptly named “Mr. Irrelevant” pick has only seen a handful of prospects go on to even contribute in the NFL, such as kicker Ryan Succop (2009) and defensive back Michael Green (2000), who both went on to have relatively lengthy albeit unnoteworthy careers.

Bettors can wager on which position the prospect who is selected as this year’s “Mr. Irrelevant” plays. There is a three-way tie between linebacker, defensive lineman and offensive lineman at +500, a bet that would pay $5 for each $1 if picked correctly.

Linebacker being a co-favorite should hardly come as a surprise. The previous two Mr. Irrelevant choices have both been linebackers and there is a good chance another one is selected at the end of the 2022 draft.

Linemen haven’t been a common final selection over the past couple decades. Only two prospects from either side of the trenches (Cheta Ozgouwu in 2011 and Ahmad Miller in 2002) have been selected as Mr. Irrelevant since the turn of the millennium.

Tight ends, who are +1100 to represent Mr. Irrelevant this year, have had a relatively strong showing at this spot. Five have been selected with the last pick since the 2001 draft, the most recent being Caleb Wilson in 2019.

With that in mind, here are the odds for each position to claim a Mr. Irrelevant in 2022:

2022 NFL Draft – Position of Mr Irrelevant (Final Pick of the Draft)

  • Linebacker: +500
  • Defensive Lineman: +500
  • Offensive Lineman: +500
  • Wide Receiver: +600
  • Cornerback: +600
  • Running Back: +850
  • Quarterback: +1100
  • Tight End: +1100
  • Safety: +1100
  • Kicker/Punter/Long Snapper: +1600
