Universal Studios Hollywood Rounds Out Halloween Horror Nights 2022 With ‘Killer Klowns’ And A Jordan Peele Terror Tram Finale

Two of the acclaimed nightmarish visions of Jordan Peele get a reimagining as part of this year’s Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood.

His sophomore film Us and his latest feature Nope will provide what is being called a “crossover experience” as the grand finale of the wildly popular Terror Tram. The attraction will feature the maniacal look-a-likes from Peele’s second film, known as The TetherUSDT
ed, as they invade the Jupiter’s Claim set housed on the theme park’s backlot.

It’s not the first time Us has been featured as part of Halloween Horror Nights, which this year kicks off on Thursday, September 8. In 2019, the horror movie had its own maze, now referred to as haunted houses, to celebrate the release of the acclaimed film.

The iconic Terror Tram will also involve guests experiencing Hollywood Harry’s Halloween, described as “a nightmarish spectacle with a demented cast of characters” interspersed amongst Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds set and the iconic Psycho house. It’s one of many attraction announcements to round out this year’s offering.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space, a hit with both newbies and fans of the cult movie when it was initially staged as part of the 2018 event, makes a welcome return. Once again, guests will try to escape a funhouse inhabited by the titular murderous clown creatures.

There will also be three original haunted houses not based on existing IPs. La Llorona: The Weeping Woman will see attendees being terrified by the vengeful ghost of a mourning mother. Elsewhere, Scarecrow: The Reaping will see the straw-stuffed farm dwellers scare more than birds as they attempt to wreak havoc on homesteaders with guests caught in the middle. Also confirmed is Universal Horror Hotel, which makes those brave enough to enter the attraction the unsuspecting victims of the vengeful spirit of the hostelry’s original owner, who was executed for his horrendous crimes. In addition, there will be three Scare Zones called Clown Sawz, El Pueblo del Terror, and Sideshow Slaughterhouse.

Already announced for this year’s event are The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare, a haunted house inspired by select tracks from his similarly titled record-breaking album, The Horrors of Blumhouse, which combines two of the studio’s most visceral visions: The Black Phone and Freaky, Universal Monsters: Legends Collide, and Halloween, an attraction inspired by the original 1978 movie, Halloween.

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood rolls out the blood red carpet on Thursday, September 8, 2022. At Universal Orlando Resort, scare season starts on Friday, September 2, 2022. Both events will run through Monday, October 31, 2022.
