Today’s Wordle Word Of The Day #472 Answer, Hint And Clues For Tuesday, October 4th

I live in a climate that is generally pretty dry. We get monsoons that can dump a lot of rain all at once, but typically those clear up after a couple hours. Sometimes we get big snowstorms—I’ve seen it dump five feet in a couple days before—but typically it warms up a few days later and the snow melts pretty quickly.

But yesterday it felt like I was in an entirely different state. It rained all day long. Sometimes a slight drizzle, sometimes closer to torrential downpour levels. All day long the sky was grey and the rain kept falling.

This is highly unusual behavior for rain ‘round here. Highly unusual. This is a Northwest kind of rain. An Irish rain. I honestly can count the number of days that are grey all day long on my fingers any given year. Some days start grey and end sunny. Others start sunny and end grey. But grey skies and rain all day long? It’s almost unheard of.

I probably should have guessed rainy for my Wordle opening guess today, or something like storm but I went with something from the shows I’m watching, and it ended up being kind of perfect.

Today’s Wordle Solution

The Warning: Spoilers here, spoilers there, there are spoilers everywhere! Beware!

The Hint: Deck the halls . . .

The Clue: Vowels in this word are two.

The Answer:

So as you can see, house (as in House Of The Dragon which is just getting better and better) really narrowed down my options. Out of 2,309 only 12 remained.

I thought about guessing touch at this point but ultimately decided that some tough love was the way to go. This got me two more green boxes. Another lucky choice!

But when I thought about all the options that remained I was worried. Rough, dough, and bough all seemed like distinct possibilities. So I came up with a word that I knew wouldn’t be right, but that could at least eliminate some starting letters and possibly give me the right one as well.

Sure enough, the ‘B’ was in green and bough—as in “Deck the halls with boughs of holly”—was the winning word! Huzzah!

I’ll try to remember to guess rainy tomorrow. I wonder if it will even be this rainy tomorrow? We’ll find out soon enough.
