Today’s ‘Wordle’ Answer #254: Monday, February 28th Solution

What a strange world we live in. A global pandemic that’s hopefully in its final stages. A war overseas between one of the world’s great geopolitical powers—Russia—and its former vassal state, Ukraine, that seems like something out of a different era altogether. Do we really do these large-scale invasions in 2022?

Putin could be a Wordle starting word if it were in the guess list (it isn’t). I chose a different starting word today that felt appropriate enough (see below) for this bizarre time of chaos and war.

Language, in my humble opinion, is the opposite of violence. Language is the great human unifier, the ground upon which we lay out both our differences and similarities and try, however messily, to come to some agreements. It’s what we build culture upon, what we anchor customs to, and how we bridge the myriad divides that loom between us.

And so we come to Wordle, a humble game in its own right, but one that has—in some small but kind of awesome way—united people in these divisive times. We share our successes and failures. We talk about our strategies and starting words. We do the language thing, the society thing, the human thing, all by guessing a five letter word in six tries or less.

Today’s Wordle Answer #254

Before treading further through this post, be warned: Spoilers await. I’ll give a hint before the answer, but both could potentially spoil your guess. First, the hint:

This move is generally frowned upon in the wider Force community.

And the answer is . . . .

As you can see, I went with ‘PEACE’ as my starting word. Seemed pretty fitting given our current state of affairs. I never pick the same starting word twice (at least not on purpose, I’m sure one day I’ll forget that I’ve chosen something and do it again) and PEACE is not only something to be devoutly wished for, but a pretty decent starter.

It worked out quite well today, giving me the C in the wrong spot and the E in the right spot. Since yesterday’s word, CHANT, began with a ‘CH’ I figured I’d go for that again. I initially thought of the word CHOKE but decided against it—alas, I’d have had it in two!

Instead, well, I choked. Bummer.
