Today’s Wordle #609 Hint, Clues And Answer For Saturday, February 18th

My my how time does fly, whether or not you’re having fun. It’s the 18th of February, which means we have just 10 days remaining in the month. We have about 30 days until winter ends and spring arrives. Soon it’ll be summer.

Admittedly, I’m ready for some new seasons. This winter has been very wintry. I don’t hate the cold by any means, and I’m happy we’ve gotten so much snow. But I do miss going out in the woods when things are green and warm and going on long hikes with my doggies. They miss it even more. They’ve been a lot more cooped up lately and they’ve got a ton of energy. I wish I had a fraction of their energy!

Still, all this snow will be extremely good for the forests and ought to help prevent the worst of the forest fires. We’ve been hit with so many wildfires that it’s completely changed the area, with whole sections of town suddenly flood zones. Fires and floods. It’s something you don’t always think about, but when there’s one natural disaster it often leads to more. Fires can lead to flooding and also famine. Natural disasters can spill over into man-made disasters, as competition for resources pushes people over the brink.

But let’s not concern ourselves with all of that. Let’s just do this Wordle—sound good?

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: He tried to win her hand but to no ________. His efforts were in vain.

The Clue: This word has a double vowel in it.

The Answer (Spoilers):

This was a really hard word—one of a few particularly tough ones lately (like yesterday’s). I admit, I had a pretty hard time coming up with a clue. I’m not even sure that was a very good clue, but what else can you really say?

I was quite lucky today and actually solved this one fairly quickly. Opals was a weird guess. I can’t say where it came from. But it narrowed the remaining solutions down to a measly 44. From here, all I could think to do was get all the rest of the vowels out of the way. Since ‘O’ was already eliminated, I went with adieu to rule out the rest. Much to my surprise—despite already having an ‘A’ in green in box #3—I got another green ‘A’ in box #1. Huzzah!

At this point, I was pretty sure that the ‘I’ had to go in the fourth spot, though I did fiddle with it briefly in the second box. Once I had ‘AIL’ lined up, the only word I could think of was avail—and sure enough, that was the Wordle!

This was a very good day for me Wordle-wise, as I got my answer in three guesses (+1 point) and beat the Wordle Bot, who got his in four (another point). That’s two points, which is better than I’ve gotten in quite some time. Huzzah again!

Alright, that’s all folks. Have a lovely weekend. You can check out everything new to stream this weekend right here.
