Today’s Wordle #546 Hints, Clues And Answer For Saturday, December 17th

It’s Christmas break at last! The kids have been so excited about it, and I’m excited because I can sleep in a bit extra and not have to spend my mornings getting them to school. I can put them to work instead, cleaning up this mess that they helped cause! They can also help with our pack of beasts—a trio of adorable but messy dogs who seem to constantly shed everywhere.

It’s worse in Fall and Winter, when everybody—dog and human—tracks in wet leaves, mud, snow and lord knows what else. Sometimes I wish I was a country Lord living in a country manor with a butler and a maid and a cook (though I love cooking!) A pleasant fantasy, in any case.

Alas, I am but a humble writer, penning Wordle guides and dreaming up stories I should probably jot down someday. You need a book deal to get that juicy movie deal and once you have that, well, a country manor isn’t so far out of the question. A boy can dream!

Let’s do this Wordle!

Today’s Wordle Solution—With Spoilers!

The Hint: Strike this, but not to do harm.

The Clue: This word begins with two letters that form just one sound.

The Answer:

I so badly wanted this word to be sword that even though I was leaning toward chord for the final answer, I went with sword instead.

To be fair, I almost guessed fjord, which was the only other word I could think of that might be right (and sure enough, it was these three after my second guess of broad).

I’m sad this one took me four tries given round brought the remaining solutions down to just 10, which is pretty darn good! Sometimes when you’re left with just a handful of guesses, they’re all so similar that you just have to guess and hope it sticks. Today was one such Wordle.

You’ll be sad to learn that Wordle Bot got the answer in three. He went with slate and then crony before landing on chord. Pretty lucky if you ask me!
