Today’s Wordle #223 Answer: Friday, January 28th Solution

Well, it’s finally Friday—TGIF—and it just so happens to be the last Friday of January. Time really flies when you’re having fun.

These days, everybody is having fun solving one word puzzle a day in the viral game Wordle—or arguing about the game’s merits on social media. The internet is having a field day with Josh Wardle’s fun, free puzzle game. So it goes.

For my part, I think the game is great. I love that it’s just one word a day and a fun little diversion/tradition each day.

I found today’s word pretty challenging, too. Sometimes when you get the right letters in the wrong spot, it’s almost worse than just getting the wrong letters. I’m not sure about you, but it can mess with my head a little bit, send me off in the wrong direction.

More on that in a second.

If you’re new to Wordle, here are a couple helpful pieces I’ve written to get you started:

You can find Wordle at its official website. It’s not on the App Store or Google Play and contains no ads, subscriptions or MTX. That’s pretty cool!

Okay, spoilers follow. There are spoilers ahead! As the title of this post implies, I will be giving you the answer to today’s Wordle in this post, so read on at your own risk! This is intended for people struggling or who couldn’t solve the puzzle—though if you want to cheat, that’s your business and your loss.

Okay, so let’s talk about today’s answer. Remember: Playing is simple but can be kind of tough depending on the word. Green boxes mean you’ve got the right letter in the right spot; yellow boxes mean you have the right letter in the wrong spot. I had a lot of yellow boxes this time around.

But first, a hint: Dogs act this way when you offer them a treat.

Today’s Wordle #223 Answer, Friday January 28th

Yikes, five guesses. Honestly, getting just a ‘K’ kind of messed with my head. Then ‘KER’ in the end with ‘BAKER’ and all three letters still yellow. Ouch.

I screwed up with ‘RAKES’—it was an impulsive guess and I regretted it instantly. ‘AKE’ were in the same spot! I knew ‘A’ was no good! What the heck Erik?!?

I kept swinging at fences with my next guess. I wanted to get a new vowel—O—and a ‘P’ in there and tossed out ‘PROKE’ which is just a fun, antiquated, five-letter version of ‘POKE’ (wouldn’t that have been a cool answer to guess right!) and that got me the ‘K’ and the ‘P’ in the right spot. I moved the ‘R’ and ‘E’ to make ‘PERK’ and for a minute got stuck thinking ‘PERKS’ but knew the ‘S’ was no good.

I perked up when I thought of ‘PERKY’ and lo and behold, that’s the answer!

Thanks for reading, fellow Wordlers. Happy puzzling!
