Today’s Wordle #218 Answer: Sunday, January 23rd Solution

It’s Sunday which, if you’re me, means you try to be as lazy as possible but end up writing a Wordle guide at midnight.

Then, the next day you keep distracting yourself from being lazy by doing chores, finishing up busy work and going on a hike even though it’s supposed to be a rest day.

Then again, maybe you’re taking full advantage of lazy Sunday. Read a good book, catch a game of football, play some video games.

And solve a Wordle while you’re at it!

Read on to see today’s Wordle #218 solution, how to play if you’re a newcomer, and a bonus hint in case you just need that extra nudge over the finish line.

How To Play Wordle

First things first, head to the game’s website here. The game isn’t on the App Store or Google Play—but there are copycats and clones trying to make a buck off this free (and ad-free, and micro-transaction free) game’s success.

Once there, you’ll be presented with six rows of five boxes. These are your guesses. You start by guessing a five-letter word. You have six guesses to succeed or fail.

When you guess the right letter in the wrong spot, the box will turn yellow. The right letter in the right box will show up green. All incorrect letters show up grey. It’s basically the game Mastermind but with words instead of colorful pegs.

What’s The Answer For Today’s Wordle #218?

Before we jump to the answer (SPOILERS!) let’s start with a hint: Similar to curling.

I got this one surprisingly quickly. I was going through some word ideas for my first guess earlier and settled on ‘BRIDE’ hours before this Wordle went live.

Getting two green letters right off the bat is huge, but my second guess proved decisive. ‘PRIME’ gave me three green letters and only one place for the ‘P’ to go—at the end.

After that, there are only so many five-letter words that end in ‘RIMP’ and the only one I could even think of (outside of six-letter words like ‘SHRIMP’ that obviously wouldn’t work) was ‘CRIMP.’

And voila! presto! that’s the Wordle word of the day for Sunday, January 23rd, aka Wordle #218. Three ain’t half bad!
