Today’s Wordle #217 Answer: Saturday, January 22nd Solution

Weekend Wordlers, hope your Saturday is off to a wonderful start! We’ve been solving these Wordle puzzles all week together and it’s time for another.

The viral word-game is a lot of fun and easy to play, though some of these words can be challenging!

If you’re new to Wordle, be sure to check out my explainer piece here or watch the below video for an overview.

The Rules

After you head to the Wordle webpage—it’s not available on the App Store or Google Play and has no ads or microtransactions or monetization of any kind—you’ll find six rows with five empty boxes in each row.

This is where you make your guesses. You’ll need to guess five-letter words and you get six guesses to get the word of the day correct.

Correct letters in the wrong spot show up yellow and correct letters in the right spot show up green. Incorrect letters are greyed out.

Spoilers ahead . . . .

Here’s a hint for today’s Wordle word of the day #217 before we get to the answer:

Similar to flinch.

Wordle #217, Saturday January 22nd Answer

I kind of screwed this one up a bit, though it didn’t really matter in the end. After guessing ‘CREAM’ and getting the ‘A’ greyed out, I still foolishly guessed ‘TEACH’ the next guess down.

That got me the ‘C’ in the right place, at least, which led to the guess ‘TWICE’ which, ironically, was a word I had considered opening with. From here I was stumped for a bit, wondering what word could possibly end with ‘CE’ but also include ‘WI’ somewhere.

At last, I thought of ‘WINCE’ and was fairly certain it had to be the right word. It was, thankfully, and I no longer had to wince at my bad second guess!

Happy puzzling, fellow Wordlers! See you on Sunday!
