Three Players Manchester United Should Look To Move On During This Transfer Window

With the transfer window closing in just over a month’s time, Manchester United still have a multitude of business to conduct.

As well as focussing on arrivals, the Red Devils’ management will be working in tandem with player agents to ensure those not in the plans of Erik Ten Hag will find pastures new.

Here are three players that Manchester United will be looking to offload this summer:

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

A player that, supposedly, was selected ahead of 800 other right backs in the scouting database, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has not kicked on since arriving to Old Trafford in 2019 for £50 million.

The England international, nicknamed ‘the spider’ for his long legs, had built a reputation of a sterling one-on-one defender. While that has rarely preceeded him, Manchester United fans excellence in both ends of the pitch, which is where Wan-Bissaka has so famously struggled.

It is unlikely that the Red Devils will be able to recoup the £50 million that they outlayed in signing the right back, but they will want at least half. Given that he is only 24 years of age, Wan-Bissaka still has plenty of time to excel in a different club and revive his international career.

Ten Hag looks to have chosen and favoured the efforts of Diogo Dalot moving forward and has his eyes on Denzel Dumfries at Inter Milan should an acceptable offer be on the table for Wan-Bissaka.

Eric Bailly

While Eric Bailly has enjoyed the love-in from a pre-season tour to remember, Manchester United will begin talks with AS Roma over a potential transfer before the window closes.

The Red Devils are asking for a fee in the region of £8 million, which is low, given the Ivory Coast international has two further years plus an option left of his current contract.

But given the central defender’s high wages, in the region of £100,000 per week, Manchester United will be wanting to offload him sooner rather than later as he is further down the pecking order under Ten Hag.

With the added arrival of Lisandro Martinez from the Dutch coach’s former club, AFC Ajax, Bailly himself will know that game time is limited this season with four centre backs ahead of him.

Cristiano Ronaldo

A surprise name to many to see on a potential departures list, but Manchester United are beginning to realise that they are losing a fighting battle in trying to convince Cristiano Ronaldo to remain at the club.

While the public perception is that the Red Devils will not sell the Portugal international, behind closed doors there are quiet talks to suggest that it would be in the interest of Ten Hag to see him leave.

With the disruption of Ronaldo not turning up for the the pre-season tour to Australia, the Dutch manager does not need his first season in charge of Manchester United to be muddied with any further disruption. It will be hard enough as it is to negotiate the upcoming campaign, which would only be made worse if Ronaldo remains at the club and causes issues.

Ten Hag’s style of play also does not play in the hands of Ronaldo, who is unlikely to press throughout the games and will not like being taken off and rested in certain matches.

It is the Ronaldo show for a reason and while he would very much guarantee 20 goals-a-season, in order to take this team forward, Ten Hag needs the players all pulling in the same direction
