It is a decentralized liquidity network that facilitates cross-chain trades in a non-custodial manner. Its Chain-agnostic feature is what makes it unique from others. The network does not peg or wrap assets but simply facilitates the users to swap tokens across varied Layer one blockchains.
Post its ChaosNet integration, ThorChain earlier announced the launch of its MainNet last December. MainNet is planned to be built to back Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).
But now, it seems like the Mainnet is delayed further, for which it has gained significant criticism from the community.
According to the moderator of Thorchain’s telegram community, who highlights that the MainNet launch date has been delayed to a time, no one can tell right now.
Highlighting that the Mainnet date is not set and is dependent upon the delivery of code. And this cannot be hurried and is going to take at least a month to carry out all the needed Mainnet milestones following a need for 30 days of stability. It implied that the Mainnet might be ready by April, but there would be a need for a minimum of 30 days of stable operation.
However, a minimum 30 day period is specified here, and not a maximum one. Hence, it cannot be completely trusted if the Mainnet, even after the launch, would be ready to be used after 30 days.
Further highlights that Thorchain has been criticized for just setting dates and not acting on them, so he wants to get it straight now. He clearly specified that No Mainnet Date had been set, only a clear path to get there. And that a Mainnet date would not be set until the required items are done.
The anticipated launch attracted significant attention to RUNE as the event was highly expected late last year but was delayed due to certain factors. But now it seems it is further delayed and it is to look forward to when exactly Thorchain would fulfil the launch wish of its community.
