The Top 10 Movies And Shows On Netflix Today: August 14, 2022

Here are the top ten movies and TV shows on NetflixNFLX
in the United States for August 14, 2022. Each day, I will update this list and observe the trends that change from day to day, week to week.

August 14: Top 10 Movies on Netflix

  1. Day Shift
  2. Uncharted
  3. Purple Hearts
  4. Sing 2
  5. The Informer
  6. The Gray Man
  7. The Nice Guys
  8. Flight
  9. Wedding Season
  10. The Age of Adaline

Day Shift claimed the #1 spot for the second day in a row—which isn’t surprising, considering Netflix spent $100 million on the film that stars Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco. You can likely expect a perfect week (which means the movie will spend every day this week in the first-place position) from Day Shift, a film about people who secretly hunt and kill vampires.

Meanwhile, Uncharted shifted down to the #2 spot after having its own perfect week over the previous seven days, while Purple Hearts shifted down to the third-place spot. This is the lowest position yet for Purple Hearts, which upset The Gray Man for the #1 spot a couple weeks back.

Sing 2 is in the fourth-place position for the fourth straight day. The animated film’s legendary Top 10 streak has now stretched to 53 days, which currently stands as the fifth-longest streak ever. Sing 2 can pass both The Grinch and Vivo by Friday. After that, the movie will have to hold on for several more days to beat The Mitchell vs. The Machine’s streak of 63 days and We Can Be Heroes’s streak of 66 days.

Past that, the chart is largely made of up familiar films. Despite a lackluster performance thus far, The Gray Man has remained on the charts for the first 23 days of its run. The other longest streaks belong to The Age of Adaline (13 days), Wedding Season (ten days), The Informer (seven days), and Flight (seven days).

August 14: Top 10 Shows on Netflix

  1. Never Have I Ever
  2. The Sandman
  3. I Just Killed My Dad
  4. Locke & Key
  5. Stranger Things
  6. Virgin River
  7. Instant Dream Home
  8. Indian Matchmaking
  9. Riverdale
  10. Extraordinary Attorney Woo

It’s been a big couple of days for Never Have I Ever, a show that had was only able to capture the #1 spot once last year thanks to Virgin River’s dominance. Today marks the second straight day that Never Have I Ever stands at the top of the list, dethroning The Sandman #1 reign. The best #1 streak for Never Have I Ever was six days back in 2020.

A new top dog meant The Sandman’s streak came to an end. The fantasy show enjoyed a perfect week over the previous seven days, becoming just the fourth show in 2022 to post a perfect week in its first season. The show has now held the second-place spot for two straight days.

Two other shows have remained near the top of the list for several days now: I Just Killed My Dad and Locke & Key. The former show has spent seven days on the charts (reaching second place twice) while the latter has now been around for four days (also reaching a high of second place).

The rest of the field is pretty familiar territory—especially the shows in the fifth- and sixth-place positions. Stranger Things has now stretched its record Top 10 streak to 82 days. Forty-two of those days were spent in the #1 spot (also a record, by the way).

Meanwhile, Virgin River has extended its streak to 22 days. In fact, today marks the 100th appearance by Virgin River on the Top 10 charts. In late 2020 and early 2021, the show’s second season spent 40 days on the charts, and in 2021 the show’s third season spent 38 days on the charts. With today’s Top 10 appearance, it became the sixth adult show to ever hit that century milestone.
