The Top 10 Movies And Shows On Netflix: July 9, 2022

Here are the top ten movies and TV shows on NetflixNFLX
in the United States for July 9, 2022. Each day, I will update this list and observe the trends that change from day to day, week to week.

Top 10 Movies on Netflix

  1. The Girl in the Picture
  2. Sing 2
  3. The Sea Beast
  4. Mean Girls
  5. The Man from Toronto
  6. The Dark Knight Rises
  7. Wanted
  8. Leave No Trace
  9. Big Daddy
  10. Final Score

Once again, The Girl in the Picture has claimed the top spot. That’s now a three-day streak for the true crime documentary, which surprisingly beat out The Sea Beast. This just goes to show how easy of a win these true crime documentaries are, as they almost always trend well on the Top 10 and cost much less time, effort, and money to produce.

Animated films produced by Netflix usually receive enough hype and promotion to capture the #1. So it’s interesting that The Sea Beast couldn’t even beat out another animated film, Sing 2, that’s been on the charts for several weeks now. Netflix cartoons like The Mitchells vs. The Machines spent 14 consecutive days in the top spot.

Then again, other animated films like The Secret Life of Pets 2 and Despicable Me have had some of the best Top 10 runs we’ve ever seen. So it’s not surprising that Sing 2 rank so highly. The animated film has spent all 17 days of its Netflix stint in either the #1 or #2 position.

The Man from Toronto continued its streak today, stretching its Top 10 run to 15 days. This marks the third day in a row its been in the fifth place spot. This has been the film’s lowest position thus far after spending four straight days at #1.

Wild Card made its exit from the Top 10 today after a seven-day run, while The Dark Knight Rises extended its streak to seven days. Meanwhile, Mean Girls continues to rank highly five days into its run, although it dropped from #3 to #4 thanks to The Sea Beast.

Top 10 Shows on Netflix

  1. Stranger Things
  2. The Umbrella Academy
  3. Alone
  4. The Flash
  5. Boo, Bitch
  6. The UnXplained with William Shatner
  7. All American
  8. The Longest Night
  9. Legacies
  10. Grey’s Anatomy

There’s nothing new near the peak of the Top 10 today, as the same shows occupied the #1-4 positions as yesterday. Today marks the 48th consecutive day on the Top 10 for Stranger Things, and the ninth straight day in the top spot. Of the show’s 48 days on the Top 10, Stranger Things has spent 40 of them in the #1 position. That is by far the most of any show in 2022.

The Umbrella Academy, Alone, and The Flash rounded out the rest of the top four positions. In the face of Stranger Things’s historic run, The Umbrella Academy is trying to top its incredible 2020 performance when it spent 43 consecutive days on the Top 10. So far, the show has landed 17 appearances since its June 22 premiere. Meanwhile, Alone has steadily risen higher during its five-day stint, while The Flash has occupied the #4 spot for both of its Top 10 showings.

The only new shows to hit Netflix were Boo, Bitch and The Longest Night. While both had promising debuts, neither of which had a chance to catch Stranger Things or The Umbrella Academy. Which means both of those juggernauts will likely continue to occupy the top spots for at least another week.

Elsewhere, All American continued its quietly dominant run with its 39th straight day on the Top 10, while The UnXplained scored its 14th straight appearance and Legacies stretched its streak to 15 days.

The appearance of two new shows meant two other programs had to go: The Upshaws and The Lincoln Lawyer. The former show had scored nine straight appearances on the Top 10, while the latter has been on and off the charts for several weeks now.
