The Metaverse And Web3 To Take Center Stage In Central Hall

Every year, tech professionals from around the globe make the pilgrimage to Las Vegas to test the latest technology and to learn about the newest tech innovations impacting home, automotive, beauty, health, gaming, and more. It’s an overwhelmingly fascinating experience with most of us feeling like kids in a candy store.

Earlier this year, it was funny to see how many times exhibitors included the word Metaverse, in their booths. This even lead to an XR professional’s Twitter thread going viral after he walked around the show citing every mention of the word and the results were overwhelming!

Despite everything tech has weathered this year, in 2023, the Metaverse and Web3 will get their own dedicated space. This time in the Las Vegas Convention Center’s (LVCC) Central Hall.

In a recent episode of the CES Tech Talk podcast, Kinsey Fabrizio, the Consumer Technolgy Association’s Senior Vice President of Membership and CES Sales, shared what to expect at CES 2023. She stated that there will be a part of the show dedicated to gaming, the Metaverse and Web3 in Central Hall. She revealed that it’s going to be a really exciting part of the show floor with CoinDesk’s Web3 studio being located in Central Hall. The studio will interview influential Web3 voices, and also cover the latest news and trends in crypto and blockchain news at the show.

Central Hall, for CES newbies, is what many think of as traditional CES. This is the area of the LVCC where some of the biggest exhibitors tend to make an appearance. With Coindesk’s Web3 Studio located in the LVCC Central Hall, it will be a focal point of Web3, the Metaverse, and blockchain at CES. CoinDesk will host industry leaders and visionaries as they discuss the most impactful developments that have occurred across industries, technologies, and capabilities. Among other experienced professionals, I will be there to talk about my new book that launches in mid January.

Digital Hollywood is offering a partner track entitled Digital Hollywood: Hollywood Streaming and the Metaverse. The tracks opening sesion is titled Web3, XR, Metaverse & the entertainment consumer and it is the first session of CES that tackles the subject. I will be a panelist with colleagues from AMD, Nokia, Microsoft, NPR, Shutterstock and Brett Leonard, the director of the 90s SciFi classic Lawnmower Man. This session takes place on January 4th at 9 a.m. at the Aria.

CES 2023 also includes a Metaverse & Gaming track with sessions like Gaming to Lead us into the Metaverse. Fashion and luxury will also be part of the discussion in the Luxury Brands Embracing Innovation: How the Best of the Best are Leaning into AI, Metaverse and Beyond panel in this track.

There is also a Creator Economy & NFTs Talk track. Some of the sessions in this track include Web3: Fad or The Future? and The Changing Metaverse Landscape: Challenges as Opportunities.

There are also a myriad of side events, demos and panels happening in parallel with CES.

While the current situation to many may seem to be a “Metaverse winter,” it is, in reality, springtime. It is just the beginning of the growth of this new field with AI and XR deserving center stage today as we build toward the future of the Metaverse in the next 10 years. Just stop to wonder, what would CES 2033 look like?
