The Future Is Natural

Imagine yourself on the International Space Station looking down at Earth with a special high-powered telescope – one that not only let you see what was happening, but also helped you understand why it was happening. As a result, you would be able to see any society you wanted and really get to the bottom of what makes it tick.

There would be several takeaways. You’d undoubtedly observe that human society works one way and nature works in a completely different way. As you continue to look down, you’ll notice society is really, really interconnected. And yet, unlike nature, it doesn’t operate in harmony with nature.

Money, Money, Money

The reason for this ultimately boils down to money. For our society, money is the centerpiece of everything; life has become utterly transactional. Money, as it turns out, is everything. The reason money is connected to all our problems is very simple: money is necessary for all transactions between people, whether we’re talking about governments, corporations, or individuals.

For this very reason, it has also become the measuring stick for how well our “system” actually works. Some feel strongly that the American economy is a beautiful system. It’s a meritocracy – you can receive money, make money, and spend money. These believers claim if you contribute and do well you move up and if not, you stay put; therefore, the system works. However, we all know the system is flawed. The root of the problem can be found with the banks loaning the same money out over and over again – benefiting only a very small percentage of society, and negatively impacting everyone else.

Of course, no one thinks to question the system if the GDP is growing – which seems to be the only focus of society. If it is growing, there is an illusion that the system is working. The problem is, the GDP is directly linked to the Fed and all banks. So, if the goal is to grow the GDP, then it’s essentially about growing banks – which are not invested in society and are not the answer to all of society’s problems.

Look To Nature for A Better Way

If you look at nature, human nature, and the requirements for sustaining life, there is no doubt that there is a more effective system and natural order of things than our existing financial system. Life needs resources to sustain itself. Therefore, in order for the economy to function properly, it needs to provide resources to every person autonomously just like nature. This may seem unproductive, to just give people the means to live but look at the cost of homelessness, poverty, and the malnutrition of our kids. The cost is in social safety nets paid for with tax dollars and debt. It is in a growing police force. It is in charities. And it is in the loss of productivity and potential in children growing up without enough food. While these examples prove the point, the current state of the economy is even worse because all the work we do is without a purpose for society, it is for banks and banks only. A functioning economy has to be sustainable, or it is pointless.

What is truly unnatural is for banks to receive all the resources available and then dole them out with loans (which is unearned money) while the repayment (with interest) must happen with money that has been worked hard for. It is unnatural to have to earn the ability to live. The only time an animal brings piles of food to another animal is when it’s for its baby, its offspring. The world is bringing piles of work to banks and getting nothing in return. It’s like banks are a baby that we must take care of. This is unnatural, of course. Nature doesn’t work that way, and neither should humanity.

If we want to build a sustainable society for the future of humanity, we need to copy the only sustainable system in existence, which is of course is nature. As a society, we must evolve and fit in with the resources that are available and will be available to us. We can’t do this with our current economic system that only looks at GDP which is an indicator of the health of the banking system. We need a system that evolves and plans for a sustainable, prosperous, and peaceful future.
