Taylor Swift Scores The Second Largest Week For A No. 1 Album Of 2023.

Taylor Swift’s album Midnights has once again soared to the top of the Billboard 200, reclaiming the coveted No. 1 position. This resurgence occurred despite the album’s long-standing presence on the charts, as it’s already one of the most successful titles of both last year and this year. Swift renewed interest in the title by releasing two deluxe editions of the album and a new color vinyl, which prompted a frenzy among fans eager to secure these special editions.

It is quite uncommon for a reissued album to experience such a substantial rise in popularity as Midnights does this week. Rising on the charts is one thing, but overtaking the biggest set of 2023 with a months-old release is nearly unheard of.

According to data shared by Luminate, Midnights garnered an impressive 282,000 equivalent album units in the past tracking frame. This achievement easily secured its position as the new No. 1 album. In contrast, the runner-up, Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time, only managed to amass 126,000 equivalent album units.

Swift’s accomplishment with Midnights this week marks the second-largest total sum for any No. 1 album so far this year, as reported by Billboard. Only Wallen’s One Thing at a Time earned a week-long consumption sum larger than Swift’s, as his set shifted just over half a million units sold upon its release earlier this year.

Midnights also broke Wallen’s lengthy hold on the chart. The country singer’s highly successful album had previously claimed the three largest sales frames of 2023 on the Billboard 200 in terms of equivalent units. For three consecutive weeks, he consistently moved over 200,000 units each frame. Now, Swift’s triumphant return disrupted Wallen’s streak.

Midnights was initially released in October 2022 and made an impressive debut at the top of the Billboard 200. The album moved over 1.5 million equivalent units in its debut week alone. It maintained its reign for five weeks before relinquishing its position, seemingly to never return to the summit. Since then, it has maintained a steady presence within the top 10 on the chart. Nevertheless, all it took was a few additional tracks to propel it right back to the summit.
