Suga Ties His BTS Bandmate J-Hope With His Latest Top 10 Hit Single

BTS member Suga has returned to the top of the Rap Digital Song Sales chart with his latest single “People Pt. 2,” which is an immediate success for the star. The track, a collaboration with Korean singer-songwriter IU, debuts in the No. 1 spot, making it Suga’s eighth top 10 hit on the ranking, which tracks the bestselling rap songs in the United States every week.

Suga’s success with “People Pt. 2” has placed him in a tie with one of his BTS bandmates for a specific spot in Billboard chart history. With another appearance inside the top 10, Suga and J-Hope now jointly hold the record for the most top 10 hits on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart among South Korean acts. Previously, J-Hope held this spot alone, until the release of “People Pt. 2” changed everything.

J-Hope was the first to reach the top 10 on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart, which he managed back in 2019 with his trilingual hit “Chicken Noodle Soup,” which he performed with Becky G. The song peaked at No. 3 on the list and was followed up by a pair of No. 1 hits–”Arson” and “On the Street”–as well as several other top 10s: “Safety Zone,” “Pandora’s Box,” “Future,” “What If…” and “Stop.”

Suga, on the other hand, first broke into the top 10 on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart in June 2020 with his debut No. 1 smash, “Daechwita.” Since then, he has earned two more chart-leading hits–”Girl of My Dreams” with Juice WRLD and now “People Pt. 2–and several other top 10 hits, including “What Do You Think?,” “Moonlight,” “People,” “Honsool,” “Burn It” and “Strange.”

“People Pt. 2” was able to debut at the top of the Rap Digital Song Sales chart thanks to its impressive first-week sales of 17,700 copies in the United States, according to Luminate. That figure makes it the bestselling song in the country for the week of any style.
