Studio Dragon Enters the Sandbox for a K-Drama Metaverse

The Sandbox metaverse expands its portfolio with a partnership with the K-drama group Studio Dragon. The collaboration will bring an all-new LAND playground for K-drama fans to create, socialize, and experience an all-new version of K-content. This new virtual venue will allow users to mint new NFTs based on their favorite shows from Studio Dragon.

Studio Dragon is a Korean group of storytellers leading in the creation and distribution of global K-content. As a comprehensive establishment, the studio takes care of all the steps involved in content production like content planning, development, financing, and distribution with nearly 280 creators.

Since its inception in 2016, Studio Dragon has expanded to 183 global IPs and produces an average of 30 dramas every year. Now, the new venture with The Sandbox will allow them to create bee content in Studio Dragon LAND in collaboration with global IPs. It is expected to open doors to a suite of new K-content experiences for users.

The Studio Dragon playground in The Sandbox metaverse will be developed based on the intellectual properties of their popular content. The studio is already home to some exhilarating K-content like Sweet Home, Crash Landing on You, The Uncanny Counter, Yumi’s Cells, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, Misaeng – Incomplete Life, Mine, Vincenzo, Hotel del Luna, Stranger, and Another Miss Oh.

The playground enables minting metaverse avatar accessories and game items inspired by their popular IPs. These items will be minted as NFTs and can be bought, sold, or traded among the global K-content enthusiasts. Studio Dragon launched a collection of NFT-based “Digital Goods” last year. The collection brought tokenized content from shows like Vincenzo, Mine, and Hotel del Luna.

Director of The Sandbox Korea Cindy Lee said that the metaverse would help bring the K-content to a global audience with exclusive drama slots and a multi-content experience. Currently, there is a growing demand for K-drama among global audiences, and Studio Dragon’s top-end is being received well in regions like Korea but Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America.

Bong-result Ryu, Director of the content IP department at Studio Dragon, also expressed his delight about this new partnership on behalf of the company. He further confirmed that the roadmap of this partnership intends to explore the creation of a K-verse in the future.

The Sandbox portfolio already includes more than 200 prominent firms around the world. The list contains names like Cube Entertainment, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Warner Music Group, Snoop Dogg, Adidas, Skull and Koonta, Richie Hawtin, Steve Aoki, Crypto lookKitties, etc. So, it is clear that the addition of Studio Dragon is expected to open up avenues for new collaboration and content for K-drama fans around the world
