Start-Date, Villain Operators, Volcano And More

Call Of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone are about to head into the fifth—and final—season.

Season 5, dubbed ‘Last Stand’, marks the end for new seasonal Vanguard content. With Warzone 2 just around the corner, it’s unclear what kind of support the original Warzone will receive after this update or whether most development focus will switch to the sequel.

Season 5 is aiming to be the biggest since Vanguard’s release late last year. Not only will the Caldera map’s volcano explode, players can expect two new Vanguard maps, new limited-time modes, several new guns and a new Battle Pass.

Four classic Call Of Duty villains are also coming to the game as playable Operators. These include:

  • Khaled Al-Asad (Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare)
  • Gabriel T. Rorke (Call Of Duty: Ghosts)

  • Raul Menendez (Black Ops 2)

These villains have traveled through space and time to join forces and bring about the destruction of Caldera. There’s even a heroes vs villains event, Operation: Last Call, in the cards based on the multiplayer Search & Destroy mode.

Here’s the trailer:

The two new Vanguard maps are ‘Beheaded’ which takes place in a war-torn Times Square and the medium-sized Mediterranean ‘Fortress.’

There are a whopping five new guns headed to Vanguard and Warzone:

  • EX1 Energy Rifle (Battle Pass)
  • Valois Revolver
  • RA 225 SMG (Battle Pass)
  • BP50 Assault Rifle
  • Lienna 57 Assault Rifle

Some creative new bundles are also headed to the Item Shop including two separate Horsemen of the Apocalypse bundles (Death and Pestilence) and the zany Cha-Cha and Hazel bundles.

Activision has been in hot water recently after a couple different Operator skins appear to have been ripped off of artists who were not working on these games, so hopefully that’s not the case with any of these.

Here’s the full Season 5 roadmap:

New round-based Zombies mission ‘The Archon’ will also arrive in Season 5, along with new quality of life improvements, bug fixes and more.

Season 5 launches on Wednesday, August 24th.
