Solar Opposites Season 4 Sneak Peek Clip

The Solar Opposites are back, and they’ve got pus-filled alien glands to express in an exclusive clip from Season 4 of Hulu’s hit sci-fi comedy series (returning Monday). No, your eyes did not just deceive you. If you thought things were going to be toned down four seasons in, then you haven’t been paying attention.

Putrid backside excretions are the least of their worries, however.

Because they have lived on Earth for so long, our favorite band of Shlorpian refugees — Korvo (Legion’s Dan Stevens taking over from co-creator Justin Roiland), Terry (Thomas Middleditch), Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone), Jesse (Mary Mack), and potentially even The Pupa — have begun to turn human. Oh, the humanity! Literally.

Terry is the first to undergo this fleshy, bipedal metamorphosis and, as per usual, he’s got on a hilarious graphic tee (one that pays homage to Swifties the world over). His new appearance — and all of the…uh…dangling appendages that come with it — puts quite a shock into his fellow family members.

Check out the sneak peek below:

Created alongside Mike McMahan (Star Trek: Lower Decks) the show follows a quintet of extra-terrestrials stranded in a quiet suburb after the total destruction of their home planet. The group constantly struggles to adapt to our way of life, often getting up to all sorts of hijinks involving an amusing combination of advanced alien technology and a woeful ignorance of human customs.

While Solar Opposites features a number of serialized elements from episode-to-episode, its most prominent running gag revolves around “The Wall,” a miniature society occupied by shrunken-down humans unfortunate enough to run afoul of the cosmic visitors. The overly-serious B plot developments of deadly civil wars and bitter betrayals of the hamster-like civilization set into the wall of Jesse and Yumyulack’s bedroom brilliantly serve to underscore the absurdity of the main narrative.

“It’s … all of the most fun tropes from movies and books and comics that we love distilled into this thing,” McMahan said during an interview with Collider at San Diego Comic-Con last year. “We originally talked about it being like, ‘If Itchy & Scratchy was taking over The Simpsons, or one of the McBane movies.’ If you had an entire McBane movie in a season of The Simpsons, that’s kind of what The Wall is.’”

The Season 4 synopsis is as follows:

On season four of Solar Opposites, we pack up the sci-fi and get normal… for a second. Then it’s back to classic Solar chaos, mayhem in the Wall, and some all new Silvercops adventures!

Guest stars include: Tiffany Haddish (Aisha), Sutton Foster (Sister Sisto), Christina Hendricks (Cherie), and Kieran Culkin (Glen).

Season 4 of Solar Opposites lands on Hulu this coming Monday — Aug. 14.
