Schedule, Odds, Picks For Jets Vs. Giants And Steelers Vs. Lions

The 2022 NFL preseason concludes on Sunday with the last two games on the exhibition schedule.

Things get underway at 1 p.m. ET with the traditional rivalry matchup between the New York Giants and New York Jets. Metlife Stadium will play host to a head-to-head clash between its two tenants, an exciting game that both teams will be utilizing starters for.

This will mark the 53rd time in the last 54 years that these teams have met during the preseason. The G-Men have the slightest of edges in the all-time series, going 33-32-1 against their in-town rivals if you include the 14 regular season meetings that have also taken place during that span.

Gang Green could tie things up this afternoon, however. The ‘home’ team is now 4.5-point chalk, a massive shift from the opening line that favored Big Blue by one. i

That matchup will lead into a showdown between the Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers at 4:30 p.m. ET.

This game will be pivotal in determining which quarterback will open the 2022 NFL season as Pittsburgh’s starting quarterback.

Free-agent pickup Mitch Trubisky has been duking it out with rookie Kenny Pickett for the right to replace the retired Ben Roethlisberger as the QB1 this year all throughout training camp, a race that should finally get called this week.

Detroit has already declared Jared Goff its starter for the second straight year. The team does have a quarterback competition on its hands though, with Tim Boyle and David Blough both vying to become Goff’s primary backup.

Each of those signal-callers should get plenty of snaps during this last chance to impress head coach Dan Campbell in the preseason finale.

With Goff set to ride the pine and the Steelers ready to play both Pickett and Trubisky early and have a competent third-stringer in Rudolph for the second half, it’s hardly a surprise that Pittsburgh is heavily favored today. The Steelers are laying 5.5 right now, up from the three-point line that went up on the board earlier in the week.
