Samsung issued an announcement on January 6 saying that Samsung 837Xwill be an “immersive world that can be explored virtually.” The company also added that the feature would incorporate both culture and technology.

Those that want to use this feature can access it through Decentraland, one of the largest virtual reality platforms in the blockchain sector. The feature will be available on Decentraland for a short period, with the company intending to create a multiverse experience throughout 2022.

The company further noted that besides creating a virtual world experience, the platform will also allow users to earn non-fungible token (NFT) badges and other wearables of Samsung on Decentraland. These can be used to customize avatars.

Speaking on this initiative, the Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Communications at Samsung Electronics America, Michelle Crossan-Matos, said,

At Samsung 837X, we’re excited to tell our connectivity, sustainability, and customization stories in a novel way, in a one-of-a-kind space. Metaverse empowers us to transcend physical and spatial limits to create unique virtual experiences that could not happen otherwise.

Samsung investing in blockchain offerings

The metaverse is not the only area in blockchain technology that Samsung is exploring. Recently, the tech behemoth announced plans to boost its NFT capabilities. The platform noted that it would launch an “NFT Aggregation Platform on its smart TVs in 2022. The feature will allow users to buy digital collectibles through their TV sets.

Samsung has also partnered with Veritree, a blockchain platform operating in Cardano. The partnership seeks to solve the effects of climate change. Following this partnership, Samsung notes that it will support the growth of over two million trees in Madagascar by the end of the first quarter of 2022. The company further noted that it would integrate tech innovations to fight against climate change.
