Ripple CTO Lashes Out at Elon Musk, Following His Free Speech Vantage Point

  • Ripple’s David Schwartz highlighted his opposition towards Elon Musk’s taking over Twitter as he is not in its support.
  • Many influential names like Jack Dorsey and Jackson Palmer also seem to be not content with Musk’s decision.
  • The Tesla CEO recently made a bid to take over the popular social media platform worth over $40 Billion.

Lately, the world’s most affluent personality Elon Musk has been hinting toward acquiring Twitter, but now he is facing some criticisms from Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer, David Schwartz.

Elon Musk’s Theory of Social Media Functioning Is Incredibly Bad.

Schwartz recently highlighted his views via his Twitter account that opposed Musk’s theory of how social media platforms should operate and called it incredibly bad.

He contradicted Musk’s free speech fantasy; the CTO signified that you reward the side that most people with the most extreme views and you punish the side with the most people with the most extreme views.

He further raised his concerns in a lengthy Twitter thread and highlighted the root problem in social media moderation as he called Musk’s theory an ill-researched and out of his head policy.

Earlier the mind behind Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, and former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey also signified that the Tesla CEO might be setting a wrong precedent via the Twitter bid. Dorsey highlighted that social media or social companies shouldn’t be owned by any individual or institution.

He was also supported by Dogecoin co-founder Jackson Palmer even though Musk is a firm supporter of Dogecoin and is often addressed as DOGEfather.

But then, Musk’s theory of free speech did not solely attract harsh reactions. Some also supported him. For instance, Former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee expressed that whether Elon Musk eventually buys Twitter, he has done the world an invaluable service by forcing leftists to accept that Twitter and other social media outlets are censorious and biased.

Last week, the multibillionaire disclosed his controversial $43B offer with the Securities and Exchange Commission to purchase Twitter. His bid came following him, lowering a seat on the Board of Directors of the company.

It is to look forward to whether Twitter can consider the free speech thing, and if such a thing happens with any social media platform, what consequences it can have.
