Rabiot Linked To June FC Barcelona Move

Adrien Rabiot is interested in a move to FC Barcelona in June next year.

The French midfielder came close to joining the Blaugrana in 2018 and instead walked to his current club Juventus on a free transfer.

Though he has often enjoyed indifferent form in Turin, Rabiot’s fortunes have reversed in recent months.

He was famously snubbed by France national team coach Didier Deschamps for the squad that traveled to the 2018 World Cup and became champions in Russia, and then asked to be removed from the reserve list of players.

With injuries to N’Golo Kante and Juve teammate Paul Pogba, however, he has become a mainstay in Les Bleus’ midfield alongside Aurelien Tchouameni at Qatar 2022 and helped them reach the World Cup final against Argentina on Sunday.

Scoring in their opening game against Australia, Rabiot has featured in every match save for Wednesday’s semi-final against Morocco due to he and Dayot Upamecano suffering from a bout of flu.

After the tournament has concluded, Rabiot will return to the Italian Serie A but his future beyond the end of the season isn’t clear given that his contract with Juve expires on June 30, 2023.

According to SPORT, Rabiot, who is represented by his mother Veronique, has offered himself to Barca and would like to play for them despite having “big offers from the PremierPINC
League”.

Rather than already agree terms with a club in January, however, when he will have legal permission to do so, Rabiot will only listen to proposals after the upcoming window has closed.

Barca are clearly in the market for a midfielder and have been linked with Kante in past weeks.

Though Rabiot is no stranger to missing games due to light knocks, he could arguably be a better investment given he is four years younger and does not boast an injury history like Kante.

This week, though, Barca have been linked to breakout Moroccan World Cup star Azzedine Ounahi. They would have to pay a small fee for the 22-year-old, but would save a lot of money on his much lower salary.
