Olive Allen Desires To Blend Art Realm Into Metaverse

  • Metaverse is a nebulous, lofty notion. It is also a violet-colored brick and mortar store on Franklin Street in New York.
  • That is the idea behind Olive Allen’s latest exhibition at Postmasters Gallery, which envisions to recreate Web3 realm inside the white cube.
  • Olive Allen is the same artist who recently burnt her Russian passport, and minted the video of that burning passport as an NFT.

Olive Allen’s IRL Show Is Live At Postmasters Gallery

Latest exhibition of Olive Allen at Postmasters Gallery purports to recreate the Web3 sphere within the white cube. With its inexpensive, roller-ink glitchy and lighting soundtrack, Allen’s show does not actually capture the essence of metaverse. But it does get a few of the effects we link with the world in 2022: venomous reply-guy vibes, video game aesthetics, corporate co-optation, 90s nostalgia.

Magda Sawon, co-founder of Postmasters stated that Olive does not go into NFT sphere with eyes wide open and innocent fascination, there is a vitality to her artworks.
