Nvidia’s Surge Didn’t Come From Retail Buyers, Vanda Says

Individuals traded a net $2.5 billion worth of Nvidia on Thursday, according to data from Vanda Research. Overall net purchases from retail investors, however, were just $43 million.

“In general, retail investors’ aggregate net purchases have been relatively low over the last two months but they are slowly picking up,” said Giacomo Pierantoni, Vanda’s head of data, in an email. “In the options space, the net buying is close to zero—we are far away from the speculative frenzy of 2020-21.”
