Justin Bieber’s headlining spot at Coachella has helped him dominate charts all around the world, with, in some instances, more than a dozen of his most famous smashes, as well as several bestselling albums. A number of the compositions that turned him into a global powerhouse return to songs and albums tallies, and in some cases they reach new highs. A few projects even manage to debut – perhaps because they weren’t popular enough when they were originally released, or perhaps due to the fact that a handful of rankings have been introduced in the years since they arrived.
“Beauty and a Beat,” a memorable dance-pop cut by Bieber that features a verse by Nicki Minaj, explodes in popularity in the United Kingdom this week. The track vaults into the top 10 on two charts, breaking into that region for the first time and nearly netting the two superstars a new champion.
Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj’s “Beauty and a Beat” Hits the Top 10
“Beauty and a Beat” surges from just outside the top 10 into that most competitive space on both the Official Singles and Official Streaming charts in the U.K. The first of those two lists ranks the most consumed songs in the nation, with streams and sales playing a role, while the Official Streaming roster looks only at a tune’s performance on platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, and others. This time around, “Beauty and a Beat” leaps from No. 11 to No. 3 on the Official Singles rundown and from No. 18 to fifth place on the streaming-focused register.
“Beauty and a Beat” Returns After Years Away
“Beauty and a Beat” debuted on the Official Singles chart in June 2012, though it only spent one frame at No. 84 before disappearing. Nearly four months later, when the track was promoted as an official single from the Canadian pop star’s third album Believe, it returned at a new high of No. 20. A few stints later, “Beauty and a Beat” topped out at No. 16, and then it began a months-long descent.
Last week, the track returned and appeared on the Official Singles chart for the first time in 13 years. Now, it is finally a top 10 hit.
“Beauty and a Beat” Climbs on the Streaming Chart
The same EDM tune debuted on the Official Streaming chart just days ago. In its second turn on the tally, “Beauty and a Beat” becomes a fast top 10, one which reached the uppermost tier nearly without hesitation.
Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber Add to Their Chart Totals
Minaj hits a dozen appearances on the Official Streaming chart thanks to “Beauty and a Beat.” She’s now up to 16 appearances between Nos. 1 and 10 on the Official Singles tally.
Bieber has proved far more successful, and he hasn’t had to wait nearly as long since last finding his way into the most competitive space on either roster. Last year, “Daisies,” the biggest smash from Bieber’s Swag album, soared to No. 1. Looking at his total output, the Grammy winner has racked up 18 top 10s on the Official Streaming chart and 29 on the Official Singles tally.
“Beauty and a Beat” Across the U.K. Charts
“Beauty and a Beat” earns its second turn on two charts in the U.K., although its performance differs greatly between them. As it dances into the top 10 on the Official Streaming tally, the cut falls from No. 49, where it launched last time around, to No. 75 on the Official Singles Sales roster. “Beauty and a Beat” surges 15 spots to No. 30 on the Official Singles Downloads chart, though that is not a never-before-seen high. Previously, the Zedd-produced track lifted to No. 16, though Bieber’s Coachella showing did turn it into a bestseller once more.
