New Report Says The MCU’s Sue Storm Has Been Cast

The Fantastic Four rumors continue to trickle in, and this new one joins a previous rumor that Marvel has tapped You star Penn Badgely to play Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic in the MCU’s version of the team, distancing itself from its John Krasinski Multiverse of Madness cameo.

This new rumor comes from YouTube insider John Campea, who believes that Sue Storm has also been cast, and it’s going to be Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer taking the part, who has come up in a bunch of other rumored shortlists of actresses being considered for the role.

“So one of the little pieces of whispering I started to hear about two months ago. And I didn’t give a lot to it. I didn’t give a lot of credence to it in my own head. It was regarding Fantastic Four, and it was Free Guy’s Jodie Comer… That she’s going to be our Sue Storm. And she’s going to be announced as Sue Storm at D23.”

Jodie Comer won great acclaim for her role as Villanelle across four seasons of Killing Eve, including one actual Emmy. She then became a blockbuster star opposite Ryan Reynolds in the aforementioned Free Guy, and was snubbed for an Oscar nomination for her role in Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel.

In short, Jodie Comer is the type of actress you might expect the MCU to try to recruit for a part like this, which is why this casting does not seem all that implausible. Comer is 29, Badgley is 35, so sure, that works.

We have fewer reports about who may be playing Human Torch and The Thing in Fantastic Four, but I am sure that we’ll hear some “leaks” about those as well. I remember Jason Segel was brought up as a possible Ben Grimm? I couldn’t tell if that was a joke or not. Regardless, D23 begins this weekend, so we are supposed to have answers by the end of it, including the reveal of the entire Fantastic Four cast at last, so we can stop speculating.

The Fantastic Four will be a huge part of Phase 5 of the MCU, and I would expect to see all its members not just in the core movie itself, but obviously involved with the Avengers assemble to fight Kang and other forces. I might expect Reed Richards to take on kind of a Tony Stark role as genius-in-chief of the team, but we’ll have to see how that pans out.

We’ll know more pretty soon here, stay tuned for either more leaks, or finally, official info.
