Neon Selects Koji Pereira as Chief Design Officer

The financial technology platform, Neon yesterday announced that it has appointed Koji Pereira, former Head of Design, Curator Team at Google, as the company’s Chief Design Officer. With Pereira’s appointment, the fintech firm is planning to accelerate its expansion.

With more than two decades of experience in the design field, Pereira is one of the well-known names in the global technology sector. His experience includes senior roles at Twitter, Google, and Lyft. For Twitter, Pereira worked for nearly 1 year as Senior Product Design Manager.

Neon is one of the most valuable fintech companies. The startup achieved the status of a unicorn after raising nearly $300 million in its funding round. BBVA, the Spanish financial services giant, also acquired an additional 21.7% stake in the Brazilian digital bank in February 2021.

“Having the opportunity to build a product with such an amazing purpose – to reduce inequalities in Brazil – was something that really caught my attention and that I fell in love with,” says Koji Pereira, the new Chief Design Officer at Neon. “My main focus at Neon will be to use my inclusive design experience to ensure we build accessible products that work for everyone. I’m also excited to work with a team in Brazil and continue to build a distributed team that includes top talent from the US, Brazil, and other countries as well.”

Brazil

The demand for digital banking in Latin America’s largest economy has increased sharply over the past few months. Neon’s newly appointed Chief Design Officer grew up in Brazil. According to the company, Pereira’s extensive experience in the design field coupled with his knowledge of the regional market will be instrumental in Neon’s success.

“The company was founded with the specific mission to decrease inequality and promote change — in the lives of its customers and in the country of Brazil,” Neon highlighted.
