NBCUniversal Orders New Seasons Of ‘Chucky’ And ‘Reginald The Vampire’

NBCUniversal has greenlit new seasons of the horror-themed Chucky and Reginald the Vampire. Based on the Child’s Play film franchise (also known as Chucky) and airing on USA Network and Syfy, Chucky from Universal Studio Group’s UCP division follows the killer doll as he commits a series of mysterious murders.

Chucky, which heads into season three, features Zackary Arthur, Björgvin Arnarson, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Jennifer Tilly, Alex Vincent, Christine Elise, Devon Sawa, Lachlan Watson, Fiona Dourif and Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky. The executive producers are Don Mancini, Nick Antosca, Alex Hedlund, David Kirschner and Jeff Renfroe.

“The cast and crew of Chucky would like to thank fans and critics alike for their overwhelming response to season two, which we’re delighted to announce has now spurred the official greenlight on season three,” said Don Mancini in a lighthearted statement. “This news has made Chucky very happy. Thank Damballa for that because otherwise Chucky would have been frankly impossible to deal with. Many thanks also to our partners at Syfy, USA and UCP for helping us keep Chucky busy. See you in 2023 for what Chucky himself promises will be his scariest season ever.”

Eight episodes of Chucky aired in season two. There is no confirmation on how many have been picked up for season three.

The series also features Mandela Van Peebles, Savannah Basley, Em Haine, Aren Buchholz, Marguerite Hanna and Thailey Roberge also star.

“The only thing better than getting the opportunity to make a season of television with Syfy is to get the opportunity to do it again,” said Reginald the Vampire creator and executive producer Harley Peyton in a statement. “All of us — cast and crew, writers, producers — can hardly wait.”

Reginald the Vampire comes from Great Pacific Media Inc., Modern Story Company, December Films and Cineflix Studios. Jeremiah Chechik, Todd Berger, Lindsay Macadam, Brett Burlock and Peter Emerson also executive produce.
