A Record Breaking Option?
An unrivaled LeBron James Triple Logoman trading card will be up for auction this week and potentially it might break the record of the most expensive sports card ever sold, as per the Goldin Auctions.
Goldin Auctions founder and executive chairman, Ken Goldin stated to CNN that this card is one of one, is entirely unique and experts believe that it holds a potential to break the all time high record paid for a trading card.
The card contains game-used patches for every NBA team LeBron James has played for: LA Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Miami Heat.
The bid for this auction will begin at $500,000, but as per the auction house, it may surpass the $6.6 Million record, established previous year with sale of a baseball card Honus Wagner T206.
There are a total of 50 Honus Wagner cards available, stated Goldin, but this LeBron James Triple Logoman is in a class by itself.
Panini, the organization which issued James’ card, made 5 Triple Logoman cards as a part of his “Flawless” collection. However, just one featured patches from a solo player, that’s LeBron James.
The card was founded during the past month in a live event organized by WhatNot, a livestreaming marketplace that allows folks to trade, buy and sell collectibles.
The auction would not be the initial, as one of the LeBron James’ cards got sold for millions earlier. Back in July 2020, a card featuring his rookie season 2003-04 with the Cleveland Cavaliers bagged $1.8 Million. A similar card got sold back in April 2021 for $5.2 Million.
The Triple Logoman card was discovered after a yearlong chase captivating collectors. Even the prominent rapper Drake got involved in this hunt, acquiring 10 cases of cards in an unsuccessful effort to find it, stated Goldin.
The latest minted billionaire status of LeBron James might impact the price positively.
Goldin stated that, LeBron James is among the most celebrated athletes and celebrities all over the globe.
He further added that only a handful of individuals can be compared to him.
